What to do with a big turkey?!

Question: My boyfriend works for UPS and every Christmas, UPS gives the employees turkeys. Well, it's been sitting in the freezer because we haven't decided what to do with it yet. We're starving college students, and it's a 20-pound turkey (I think), so we want to put it to good use. We hope to get a solid week's worth of dinners out of it. So what do you suggest? I was thinking night 1, we'd roast it, night 2, turkey soup, night 3, turkey pot pie... ehh that's all I got. Please help!

ONE week???? Criminy, that's enough for almost 2 weeks!!! After you cook it, you can divide up the leftovers and re-freeze a lot of them. Beyond that...

Turkey substituted for tuna in a noodle casserole; turkey sandwiches; turkey wraps with tortillas; shredded turkey tacos (dark meat); shredded turkey in chili; turkey a la king (for chicken a la king); turkey nachos (instead of chicken, use the white meat)...

Hope this helps you out!

turkey sandwiches....

Turkey Tacos:

shred turkey. add taco seasoning to it with 1/4 cup water.

cook rice. add black or pinto beans to rice. squeeze some fresh lime into the rice and beans.

roll up into tortilla with sour cream, guacamole, salsa, tomato's, lettuce, olives.... whatever taco toppings you like.

I usually make this with chicken instead of turkey. I throw the chicken in the crock pot with the taco seasoning and let it slowly cook. It is so dang good! I think turkey would taste great with this also!

It sounds like you're on the right track. Turkey enchiladas and tacos are also really delicious, turkey's good chopped up in a noodle casserole, you could make turkey sandwiches one day... Use lots of vegetables and seasoning in your soup and you won't have to use too much of the meat.

That all sounds great. There are so many turkey recipes online, just search for it.
.

We use our leftover turkey for turkey tacos. I just love turkey taquitos. You can freeze them after cooking and use them later with guacamole.

My first thought was, Oh, just give him a hug and a beer and sit him down in front of the tv, and he'll be fine...
Okay, sorry about that.
Hot, open-faced turkey sandwiches on toast with brown gravy and French fries are one of my family's favorites. then there's turkey tetrazzini. And, uh...Oh, just google turkey leftover recipes. You'll probably come up with more that you can make out of a 20-lb turkey.

Turkeyy sandwiches, turkey tacos with avocado o guacamole. or you can fry the hole turke.....any way you cook it, once is cooked you can keep it in small bags and freeze them again and any time you feel like eating turkey, you unfreeze the bags.

Turkey tetrazzini. Here is a recipe if you need one.

? cup flour
1 tsp. salt
? tsp. pepper
2 cups chicken broth
2 cups whipping cream
12 oz. spaghetti, broken in half

? cup grated Pecorino Romano or Parmigiano-Reggiano

Cook spaghetti; drain. Melt butter in saucepan. Blend in flour and seasoning. Cook, stirring until mixture is smooth and bubbly. Remove from heat. Stir in chicken broth and cream. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil 1 minute. Add spaghetti, chicken and mushrooms. Pour into a 9x13 dish and sprinkle with cheese.
