Anyone have a nice chocolate cake using cocoa powder instead of bar chocolate?!

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 & 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
PREPARATION:
Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Cream together the sugar, mayonnaise, water and vanilla. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture; stir until well blended. Pour batter into greased and floured layer cake pans (or a 9- x 13-inch pan). Bake at 350°F. for about 25 minutes.

*there are many variations of this recipe-i don't remember which one i used when i made this, but we ate it all up in like 1 day!

Cake:
1/3 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup flour
1/3 cup cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon baking powder

Creamy Nut Icing:
1/4 cup butter
4 teaspoons flour
Pinch salt
1/4 cup milk
1 1/2 cups icing (confectioners') sugar
3/4 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In mixer bowl, beat butter, sugar and eggs together until light and fluffy.
Mix flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt together. Mix water and vanilla together.
Remove beaters and add flour mixture to egg mixture alternately with water. Fold until smooth.
Spread batter in a greased 8 inch square pan. Bake for 30 minutes, until top of cake springs back when touched lightly. Remove from oven and cool.
Creamy Nut Icing:
Melt butter. Sprinkle in flour and salt. Stir to blend. Remove from heat.
Stir in milk, all at once. Return to moderate heat and cook, stirring constantly, until thick and smooth (don't worry if it separates a little).
Remove from heat and stir in icing sugar and vanilla. Set in a pan of ice water and stir until the frosting is thick enough to spread. Stir in nuts.
Spread over top of the cooled cake.

Buy a canister of Hershey's Cocoa Powder. The back or side of the label has a great cake recipe!

1 cup butter
5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup butter
6 tablespoons milk
6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
4 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped pecans

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 12x18 inch sheet pan. In a saucepan, combine coffee, 1 cup butter and 5 tablespoons cocoa. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and stir until smooth. Remove from heat and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine flour, white sugar, baking soda and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in eggs, sour cream and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix well, then beat in cocoa mixture. Spread into prepared pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Frost while still warm.
To make the Frosting: In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup butter, milk and 6 tablespoons cocoa. Bring to a boil, reduce temperature and stir until smooth. Remove from heat and blend in the confectioners' sugar. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla and chopped pecans. Spread on cake while still warm

I dont like chocolate cake not even black forest. but
when my daughter made choclate cake that I
like'd was'ent sweet and was moist . only her cake I eat.
for 8x8 pan flour and oil pan.in mixing bowl add 1
cup sugar 1 1/8 cups of flour 1/2 cup cocopowder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter 1 egg 1tsp vanilla extract and
1 cup cold coffee. or water if you dont like coffee.
you also can add walnuts and chocolat mints shredded. mix well and add to pan.you can even double the batch for the 12x9 pan. place in oven
at 350 for 35 to 45 minutes with the bigger pan it takes 10 minutes more test with tooth pick to come out clean .
and I made the butter icing with coco powder and
shredded chocolat mints was tasty.
