The best one I've had is actually the simplest. Take regular sandwhich bread. Cut it in half and coat both sides with eggs (make sure to beat them to the consistency you would for scrambled eggs). Just cook them lightly on each side til they're golden brown. Then top with syrup or confectioners sugar, or both... They're amazing

2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
6 slices bread (I use Texas Toast bread)
1 tbsp. (or more, as needed) butter
Maple syrup, jam, powdered sugar or strawberry sauce

Beat eggs, milk, vanilla and cinnamon in a shallow bowl or small baking pan.
Dip bread into egg mixture (don't soak the bread for too long) and coat both sides.
Melt butter in skillet over medium heat.
Add bread in batches and cook 2 to 3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
Add more butter as needed.
Serve the toast warm with syrup, jam, or powdered sugar. (I often serve them with Strawberry Sauce).
Strawberry Sauce
1 pt. strawberries, hulled
1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 tbsp. lemon juice
Cut strawberries into halfes. Saute strawberries, sugar and lemom juice until it becomes sauce-like. Makes about 1 2/3 cups.

Dip the bread in melted French Vanilla Ice Cream. Quick, easy and REALLY good.

Make a mixture of 2 eggs, 1/2 cup milk, teaspoon of vanilla extract and a teaspoon of regular or powdered sugar. If you like you can also add a dash of cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg.

Beat with wire wisk until well-mixed. Heat skillet over medium heat (4-5) and spray with non-cook spray and/or a little butter (about 1 teaspoon).

Dip bread into egg mixture and place in pan, checking after about 2 minutes to see if golden brown. Flip to 2nd side when desired color (golden brown) is reached and cook side two. Remove from pan after two or three more minutes and sift powdered sugar on top (or syrup).

Baked French Toast Supreme

14 sl Cinnamon-raisin bread
1 c Heavy cream
1/2 c Butter or margarine --
Melted
Or half and half
4 Eggs
1 tb Vanilla extract
2 Egg yolks
Powdered sugar
3/4 c Sugar
3 c Fresh berries or
3 c Milk
3 c Fresh fruit -- cut up

Instructions:
Brush both sides of bread with melted butter and arrange slices evenly in
the bottom of a buttered 9 x 13" pan. In a large bowl, beat together whole
eggs and egg yolks. Beat in milk, cream and vanilla. Strain this custard
over bread, making sure that each slice is evenly moistened. Bake at 350
for 25 minutes or until custard is set and top lightly browned. Let cool in
the pan on a wire rack for 15 minutes. Cut into squares. Sprinkle with
powdered sugar and serve with berries or other fruit. Servings: 6 to 8.
"The better the bread, the better this dish. If you can get a good bakery
loaf and cut it into extra thick slices (about 1 inch), you will be
rewarded. This dish makes a breakfast or brunch into an occasion
