Help! I need some GOOD dinner recipes that don't take too much time!?!


Question: I need some new ideas that don't take a lot of time, and that my kids will eat. I am so burnt out on the same old stuff! Also I really like one dish recipes. Thanks!

I have a picky eater husband and I get creative, i hope these help!!!

Tater Tot Casserole

1 pound ground round or turkey
1 small onion diced
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 bag shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 bag of thawed tater tots
1 cup milk
salt and pepper
tablespoon of garlic powder
veg oil, 3 tablespoons

In a large frying pan heat the oil and saute the onions. Add meat and seasonings and brown, drain.

In a bowl mix soup with milk. Mix in the meat mixture, if dry add more soup or milk.



In a medium baking dish thats deep, add the meat meat mixture, half the cheese, the tots and more cheese, bake at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes or until bubbly and hot.


Hamberger mac and cheese:

1 pound ground round or turkey
1 small onion
1 medium package velveeta, cubed
1 small box elbow noodles, cooked and rinsed not drained
salt and pepper
oil for frying
milk
1 can crean of mushroom soup

Make noodles according to package directions. Heat oil in a large pot, saute onions, add meat and seasonings, brown, drain, add the rest of the stuff, add enough milk to make juicy and melt it all together serve with bread and butter.


Cheesey Chicken Rice

1 bag frozen broccoli florets, thawed
1 12 ounce bag Louis Rich pre cooked chicken strips, disced
1 small onion minced
2 cups cooked white or brown rice
1 can cream of broccoli soup
1 can cheddar cheese soup
1 cup sour cream
2 cups shredded cheddar
salt and pepper
1/2 stick melted butter

Make the rice, add everything else and stir in a large bowl, add to 9 x 13 pan and bake for 30 to 40 minutes at 350.

Her meals always look so delicious and creative. Your kids are sure to love even some of them. =)

My family likes to go with good 'ol Hamburger Helper... or any of the "helper" line for that matter, and a salad. You can spice things up with a can of RO*TEL, or mushrooms... there are suggestions on the box... EASY PEASY!

'50s-Style Creamed Chicken:

1/2 cup chopped onion
2 tbsp olive oil
10-oz. can of chicken breast, drained and flaked
11-oz. can of reduced fat condensed cream of mushroom soup
6-oz can of mushrooms, drained
1 cup fat-free sour cream
12-oz bag of No-Yolk noodles

Cook the chopped onion in the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until tender.
Stir in chicken and cook for 1 minute.
Stir in condensed soup and mushrooms. Simmer 10 minutes.
(Meanwhile, boil the noodles according to the directions.)
Stir in sour cream over low heat. Heat through and serve over the noodles.

This is my version of fried rice but I use steamed rice..

My kids always eat this up.

what you'll need:

1 cup white rice
1 lb. ground beef, or ground turkey.
1/2 cup scallions/green onions

make rice according to package, brown the meat, drain meat..chop onions. Mix all together. Add soy sauce for flavour.

real good fast,cheap recipe.

Beef Stroganoff--quick and easy. Brown 1 pound ground beef,drain grease.Add 1 can Cream of Mushroom soup(condensed) and 1 can Cream of Chicken soup, and 3/4 cup sour cream. Heat until hot. Add a little salt and pepper or mushrooms or a little cooking wine if you like. Spoon over cooked noodles or rice.

The below recipes are some mine that my family really loves.


Farmhouse Sausage Chili

1 pound roll pork sausage
1 onion, chopped2 cans (15 oz) diced tomatoes
1 can Chicken Broth
1 can (15oz) tomato sauce
1-2 Tablespoons maple or pancake syrup1 ? teaspoons sage
2 teaspoons cumin
? teaspoon black pepper
3 cans Kidney Beans, drained

1. In large skillet, brown sausage and onions; drain
2. Add diced tomatoes, broth, tomato sauce, maple syrup, cumin, sage and black pepper; stir until well until well blended.
3. Simmer for 20 minutes.
4. Add beans and simmer for additional 15-20 minutes.
5. Serve topped with shredded cheddar cheese.



Chicken Pasta Skillet

1 pound boneless, skinless chicken, cut into small piece
1 medium green pepper, sliced.
1 small onion, chopped
1? cups water
2 cups rotini pasta, uncooked
1 jar (26 oz.) spaghetti sauce
1 cup mozzarella cheese


1. Spray large skillet with cooking spray
2. Add chicken and cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes or until evenly browned.
3. Add green peppers and onions, and continue to cook until tender, stirring occasionally.
4. Add water and bring to boil.
5. Reduce heat and stir in pasta while making sure it is covered with water.
6. Cover and simmer until pasta is done.
7. Stir in sauce and sprinkle with cheese.
8. Cover and reduce heat to low.
9. Continue to cook for 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.


Chicken Soup Express

2 cans Chicken Broth
(or 3 bullion cubes in 4 cups of water)
1 medium carrot finely chopped
1 rib of celery finely sliced
1 cup cubed cooked chicken or turkey
? cup uncooked egg noodles
Generous dash of black pepper


1. Heat chicken broth, carrots and celery to a boil.
2. Stir in noodles and chicken.
3. Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes or until noodles are done.
4. Add pepper before serving.


Beef and Rice Medley

1 pound ground beef
2 1/2 cups water
? cup diced onions
1 cup uncooked rice
1 beef bouillon cube
? teaspoon black pepper
1 can diced tomatoes
1 cup diced green peppers
1 package (8 oz.) mozzarella cheese


1. Brown ground beef and onions in large skillet over medium heat, until evenly browned.
2. Drain, and add rice and water.
3. Add beef bouillon cube and black pepper.
4. Simmer 25-30 minutes or until water is absorbed.
5. Stir in diced tomatoes and green peppers.
6. Simmer for another 10 minutes or until green peppers are tender.
7. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.


Chicken and Dumplings

2 chicken breasts (skinless)
1 can chicken broth
1 can Cream of Chicken Soup
1 ? cups milk (or ? cup dry milk)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
? teaspoon dry onion flakes
? teaspoon parsley
6 cups water 3 Chicken bullion cubes
Dash of Black Pepper
1 can of refrigerated biscuits


1. In a large pot or Crock-pot, cook chicken breasts in broth and bullion cubes with 2 cups of water.
2. When chicken is tender, remove from pot and skim off all remaining fat from stock.
3. Remove chicken from bone and dice.
4. Return diced chicken to stock.
5. Add all remaining water along with Cream of Chicken soup.
6. Add garlic, onions, parsley and black pepper before bringing to a slow boil, stirring often to blend.
7. Reduce heat and add milk, again stirring to blend.
8. Simmer for 15 minutes.
9. Increase heat to that mixture returns to a slow boil.
10. Cut or pinch small amounts of dough from uncooked biscuits and drop one by one into stock mixture.
11. Cook for additional 15 minutes; stirring often to prevent dumplings from sticking to bottom of pot.

Make a broccoli quiche

Here are some of my favorites:

Best Burritos Ever…
1 lb. hamburger
1 can refried beans with lime
4 little cans chopped green chilis
1 Tbsp. Cumin
Sharp cheddar cheese
1 pkg flour torillas
Sour cream (optional)
Salsa (optional)

Brown the hamburger. Drain the grease. Combine the beans, chilis and cumin. Cook until hot. Put 1/4 cup cheese in tortilla and microwave for 20 seconds. Fill with meat mixure and sour cream and salsa. Fold. Enjoy.

These potatoes really dress up a plain meat/poultry dish like steak, hamburger steak, or roasted chicken.

Best Fancy Mashed Potatoes
5 lb mashed potatoes peeled, cooked
1 stick real butter
8 oz cream cheese
8 oz sour cream
Half and half
salt and pepper
1/2 to 1 cup shredded sharp cheese

Mash potatoes with the butter and a little half and half. Add the rest of ingredients, except cheese, and continue to mash until cream cheese is melted and potatoes are fluffy. Put in casserole dish and cover with sharp cheese. Bake at 350 until cheese is melted and heated through.

Very rich, but wonderful!!

Here's a comfort food favorite:

Chicken Fried Steak

1-2 pounds tenderized round steak
2 cups flour
2 Tbsp seasoned salt
2 tsp pepper
Vegetable oil

Heat a skillet with ? inch vegetable oil until hot. Mix flour, seasoned salt and pepper together. Put on a plate. Cover serving size pieces of steak with the flour mixture on both sides. Coat well. Cook each side in oil approx. 4 minutes. Remove steak from pan and keep in a warm 250 degree oven.

Gravy:
Drain all but ? cup of the oil. Make sure you keep all the crusty, wonderful bits in the pan. Add ? cup of flour all at once. Stir to mix. Continue stirring and let cook 1 minute. Add 2 cups milk or half and half (depending on how rich you want it to be) all at once. Stir, stir, stir, until it boils and gets thick.

Here are some crockpot recipes. I know you said you like one dish meals, but crock pot recipes are nice because when you come home, it smells like someone cooked for you. Assemble ingredients in the morning or the night before...

Pork Parisienne

6-8 boneless pork chops
Salt and pepper
Paprika
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 small can sliced mushrooms
1 cup sour cream
? cup water

Sprinkle pork with salt, pepper, and paprika. Place in crockpot. Mix soup, water, mushrooms, and sour cream. Pour of pork chops. Sprinkle with paprika. Cover and cook low for 6-8 hours. Serve over rice or noodles.

For Chicken Parisienne use 6 chicken breasts in place of the pork chops.

This is so easy, and you can't believe how tasty!

Swiss Steak
1 round steak
2 cans stewed tomatoes
Egg noodles, cooked.

Sear the steak on both sides.
Put in crock pot and sprinkle with a good seasoned salt.
Add the two cans of tomatoes.
Cook all day (8 hours or so).
Serve over cooked and buttered egg noodles.
Yummy!

These are so easy and wonderful. You can’t believe it!

BBQ Ribs

Country Style Ribs
Onion
Bottled BBQ Sauce (any kind you like)

Sear ribs on all sides to seal in juices. Place in crock pot. Cover with sliced onions and BBQ sauce. Cook on low 8-10 hours. Yummy!!!

Serve with baked beans, cornbread…and this salad is great:

Caesar Coleslaw

1 pkg pre-made coleslaw
1/4-1/2 cup shredded parmesean cheese
1/2 pkg caesar croutons
1 bottle creamy caesar dressing

Toss first three ingredients together. Add enough dressing to coat. It's even good the next day!

Rice and Beans and Sausage

3 celery ribs, chopped
1 onion, chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 3/4 cups V8 juice (or tomato juice)
2 16 oz. cans kidney beans, drained
3/4 tsp dried oregano
3/4 tsp. dried thyme
1/2-3/4 tsp. red pepper flakes (less if you don't like spicy)
1/2 tsp pepper
2 lb. fully cooked smoked kielbasa cut into 1/4 inch slices.
4 cups cooked rice

Combine all ingredients except rice in slow cooker. Cover. Cook on low 4-6 hours. Serve over rice. Yummy!!
