Margerinae

Margarine will do, but isn't as good. IMO

In baking you really should use the real ingredients. Baking is a lot about chemistry and while some substitutions work, some don't. You might be able to get away with a vegetable oil instead, but realize that you do need some fat in there.

margarine

You might try Smart Balance. But my money is on using olive oils for nearly everything (you can even use it in baking) and real butter when you want that taste. I don't butter my bread or toast to save calories so its not hard for me.

well butter is probally the best choice if trying to cut out fat other are higher and taste will be affected such as Crisco or margine and for baking i recommend following the recipe since baking is a exacts sceince

mayonaisse. but it also replaces the eggs.

Butter will make it taste the best, but possible substitutions include: margerine, apple sauce, or shortening.

It depends on what you're making. Applesauce works really well for things like banana bread, muffins, carrot cake, pancakes, etc.

I usually replace butter with an equal amount of applesauce. You can try just replacing half, but for most recipes straight applesauce has worked well. For example, it replaces most of the butter in this great recipe for Healthier Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies: http://jinxyknowsbest.blogspot.com/2008/...

Crisco...

do 1/2 butter and 1/2 crisco
