Can i substitute shortening 4 margarine?!


Question: i just discovered last nite we were out. im pretty sure margarine(or maybe it was butter)can be substituted for shortening, but im not sure about the other way around. maybe it depends on the recipe?

You can substitute shortening for margarine, especially the butter flavored shortening. Make sure to taste test and sprinkle a tad of salt to cut the taste of the shortening as needed. And as always with cooking it does depend on the recipe. Usually substituting shortening is more conducive when baking, but in a squeeze it'll work in most cases.

yes... you can... but add a pinch of salt. Since shortening taste pale.

No problem it might even taste better, better still use Margarine and butter. Good luck.
