For years I have been trying to make my own home made subway sandwiches?!

Question: But cant make them taste 100%, how do these fast food chains able to maintain the same great taste forever? Can any one tell me how to make a good sub foot-long sandwich at home and what/where to buy the ingredients from in the U.K ?

Many Thanks

1. The hardest thing to do would be to find a sub bun that would taste similar enough... subway bread isn't anything fancy though, it's all just white or brown bread dough frozen into bread sticks, and as it thaws, it gets rolled in a seasoning, then put in a "proofer" (like an oven, but not hot- just warm and moist) until it gets to be the full size of a sub bun, then baked in the oven for a few minutes.

2. then you decide on what meat you want, which is easy... you can buy any of the deli meat at grocery stores or cut up chicken breast at home

3. get yourself some cheese... processed white cheddar or swiss, or regular cheddar

4. veggies! red onions, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, pickles, green peppers, black olives and jalepenios + banana peppers

5. sauces... mayo, mustard, bbq, marinara... alot of sauces are easy to find, you'll just have to experiment with some different salad dressings to find something similar to the sweet onion sauce (kraft sweet onion dressing is NOT alike) southwest sauce (like a spicy thousand island) and of course "sub sauce". it's a dark italian dressing, and probably the hardest to find a good taste-alike to.

6. salt or pepper?

Done! close it by using a knife to keep the contents from spilling out, then cut in the middle at a diagonal!

One secret is to season the sandwich. Really. I don't know where you buy your lettuce and tomatoes but where I go they don't come seasoned.

Greggs do a better sandwich than Subway. If you do want a Subway just buy your cold meats and salad stuff, and olives in a jar from any good supermarket especially Asda as they do some wonderful baguettes called "Tiger Tails" which are pieces of bread made with a little Sesame oil. Hope you enjoy,Mmmm.
Dont forget your Gherkin pickles.

why subway sucks they dont have anything on theres
