Stewed tomatoes?????!

Question: Ok here it is a snow day... we're snowed in with no chance of being able to get out today, so I've got to come up with dinner based on whats here.

I found a can of spicy with chilies spaghetti sauce.. probably hasnt been used yet because my family doesnt like spicy stuff much.

I was thinking if I tamed it down with canned tomatoes and let it simmer all day we'd be ok..

But I could only find one can of tomatoes... but I found 6 cans of stewed tomatoes.... wondering whats the diff between them? would stewed tomatoes work too?

Unfortunitly I don't have a window of error (can't start over if I wreck it)

Any ideas..or suggestions?

We'll be feeding 6 kids & 2 adults.. so I've also gotta make it stretch

Stewed toms will work, they have celery and onion added to them. But aside from that, they are like using canned diced toms in juice. do you have anything else on hand? ground beef? chicken?you can e-mail me if you need any help.

Stewed tomatoes will work fine. They usually have some herbs added but won't be spicy. You also don't need to simmer all day, an hour or so will do.
