My husband always tells me if it's turned completely brown in the fridge it's bad and as other people have mentioned "sell by date" is another indication. If you're a student in a dorm and only have a fridge & no freezer my suggestion is not to buy meat unless you plan on cooking it the same day you bought it. :)

Get rid of it. It's no good after about 4-5 days unless you freeze it.

By the way, have you heard of the massive beef recall?

after couple of days it will be bad

If it's growing green stuff, slime and stinks, it's no good.

Throw it out. The package should actually show a "sell by" date or "use by" date. And it is definatlely not 3 weeks. But if you want to get the runs...........well............use it.

Depends on what kind of hamburger you buy. The thicker and more meat, the harder it is to spoil.

Until it smells....or turns color and smells

if the meat was raw, it needs to be used within 2 to 3 days at most. if it's cooked, it will probably last 1 to 2 weeks if your refrigerator is on the proper coldness setting (about 38 to 42 degrees). if you meant the meat was in the freezer for 3 weeks, it's fine. as long as it's wrapped up well in the freezer, in seran wrap or a tupperware, it should last 3 to 6 months

THREE WEEKS? Does it not smell at all?

I try to freeze mine before the date on the package.

Fresh ground beef usually has a lifespan of no more than 3 days (sometimes it goes bad more quickly.) Some ground beef is packaged in "cryovac" containers and may last up to a couple weeks(it will have a manufacturer's "sell-by" date stamped on the package. It should be used within 2 days of that date,or 2 days from the date it was opened."If in doubt, throw it out" is the mantra at the meat shop where I've worked for 22 years. (I can't imagine any ground beef lasting 3 weeks outside a freezer.)
