Defrosting fish<talapia specificly>?!

Question: they are frozen in parchment paper and then saran wrap. I'm guessing i'm just going to season them and put some olive oil in a frying pan, but do i have to defrost them 1st, or will they cook ok if i just throw them in? if i have to defrost, whats the best way? please no microwave, i hate the microwave......thanks

Unwrap them and put them in a ziplock bag,
and run under cold water until thawed, talapia is a fatty fish and throwing it in will ruin the taste and texture.

I agree in defrosting them in the fridge first or running them under cold water. You also don't want rubbery fish.

I like to make tilapia, when its frozen I particially defrost them in a bowl of cold water and then seperate the filets place them in a "sprayed" baking pan, season with seafood seasoning, old bay seasoning or mrs dash original seasoning then I take orange (the frozen kind) thawed and pour some over the fish, bake for 5-10 or until done.
Its very good everyone loves it. I havent had any complaints.

the best way to defrost is to leave it in the fridge and let it thaw slowly. the reason is that the ice crystals will break up slower and not change the texture of the food drastically.

Yes defrost them first.
