I left chicken in crock pot for 24+ hours, still safe to eat?!

Question: So I set the crock pot on low, and placed the chicken inside (whole chicken). I forgot about it, and now 24+ hours later, the chicken is a little dry, but smells and tastes okay. Should I be concerned?

Yes, if it was on...protein food needs to be below forty degrees or above 140 to be safe. You get about two hour total in the danger zone. So if the crock pot was on it should have been above 140 for the whole time.

well, as long as it maintained a warm temperature of above 140F it should be fine.

just took a long time cooking. Add a little chicken broth to it and let it cook a bit to moisten it up again.

To be on the safe side, I would not eat it. Why take a chance.

Has the crock pot been on the whole time? If so, you should be OK, it will be really dried out and tough, but if it has been above 140 degrees, it should be OK. If it has cooled off at anytime, THROW IT OUT NOW. It could be all full of bacteria. For cooked food, smell is not a good way to judge.

It's just a bit overcooked, but would still be safe and tasty.

Shred the chicken flesh, discard the bones, and make lots of salads and sandwiches.

as long as the crockpot stayed warm the entire time, it's probably safe to eat.

it should be fine if the crock pot was on
