Double broiler question?!

Question: I dont have a double broiler. What can i do

Answers: I dont have a double broiler. What can i do

I usually use one pot slightly smaller on the bottom with water & another pot just slightly larger (so it doesn't fall into the other pot) as an improvised double boiler.

Peanut butter swirl brownies! Now you made me want some & I may have to make them myself! Report It

  • Take a sauce pot and fill it with some water. Then take a bowl and place it over that pot, make sure it's big enough to fit over the pot like a lid kind of... turn the stove on and let the water boil and then melt your chocolate in the bowl or whatever it is you are going to do. Just make sure the water doesn't touch the bowl at any time, you just want the steam hitting the bowl.

A double Boiler? The 2 pans that fit together? If that is what you are looking for...then a metal or tempered glass bowl over a pan of boiling water would work. Just make sure that your bowl is a bit larger than your pan, so that the steam does not escape.
    Good luck.

Double boiler? Depends on what you need it for. If you are melting chocolate, you can fill a pot with water and place a glass or metal bowl over the top. As long as the bowl is bigger than the opening, it will still create a space for the steam to generate under the bowl. In a pinch, I have put a pyrex measuring cup, with handle, over the edge of the pot and melted chocolate this way. The problem though is that the chocolate is much closer to the heat so requires constant stirring and attention.

I think you mean a double boiler not broiler (no R in the beginning of the word) and the first answer looks good.
