Steak? ? help?!
Answers: what is a good taste to marinade steak in? i am cooking it tonight and want to start marinade it but dont know what would be good to marinade it in?
I use a White wine, can of Budwieser, mixed with your favorite steak "RUB", then dribble terriakye sauce on the top and bottom, When its almost time to cook. Make a butter mixture with garlic salt and fresh ground pepper. put the mixture on wax paper and freeze it. When ready to serve the steak, pat the butter on the steak........ummmmm delicious!!
I actually haven't tried this one yet, but I found it and I think it looks good. :)
HONEY MUSTARD MARINADE
MAKES ENOUGH TO MARINATE 4 TO 6 INDIVIDUAL STEAKS OR ONE 2-POUND STEAK
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup vegetable oil
4 teaspoons honey
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons chopped fresh tarragon leaves
4 medium garlic cloves, minced or pressed through
garlic press (about 4 teaspoons)
1 1/2 teaspoons ground black pepper
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
Combine soy, oil, honey, mustard, tarragon,
garlic, and pepper in medium bowl. Remove 1/4 cup marinade and combine with vinegar in small bowl; set aside.
2.Place remaining marinade and steaks in
gallon-size zipper-lock bag; press out as much air
as possible and seal bag. Refrigerate 1 hour, flipping bag after 30 minutes to ensure that steaks marinate evenly.
3.Remove steaks from marinade, letting any
excess marinade drip back into bag. Discard
bag and marinade. Grill steaks as desired.
4.Transfer steaks to shallow pan and pour
reserved marinade over top. Tent loosely with
foil and let rest 10 minutes, turning meat half
way through. Slice steak or serve whole, passing
reserved marinade if desired.
Depending on the cut, I wouldn't marinade it at all.
Let it sit out at room temp for about 1 hr, prior to cooking.
Cover with kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper. You can't go wrong. Serve with a-1 and your golden. Don't ruin the true good flavor of steak with a marinade. You should be ashamed of yourself!
Either citrus and Oil, or Vinegar and Oil. That is your base, add seasonings, to what you would like it to taste like. You can use different types of oil, and different types of vinegars, also your citrus can range from OJ to Lemon.
have tried these marinades...and these are very good...
? 1/4 cup soy sauce
? 3 tablespoons honey
? 2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
? 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
? 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
? 3/4 cup vegetable oil
? 2 green onions, chopped
? 1 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
DIRECTIONS
1. In a large bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, distilled white vinegar, garlic powder, ground ginger, vegetable oil, green onions and black pepper. Place desired meat in marinade. Marinate in the refrigerator at least 4 hours before grilling.
another one:
? 1/2 cup cumin seeds
? 5 jalapeno peppers, seeds and ribs removed, chopped
? 3 cloves garlic
? 1 tablespoon cracked black pepper
? 1/3 cup fresh lime juice
? 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
? 1 1/2 cups olive oil
? 2 bunches cilantro (leaves and stems)
? 1 (3 pound) skirt or flank steak
DIRECTIONS
1. Toast the cumin seeds in a medium saute pan over medium-low heat for 5 minutes, or until fragrant.
2. In a blender, combine the cumin seeds, jalapenos, garlic, pepper, lime juice, and salt. Pulse the blender to finely chop ingredients. Add the oil and cilantro and puree until smooth.
3. Lightly score both sides of the meat with a knife so that the marinade will penetrate. Place the meat in a large plastic bag or bowl, pour in the marinade, and coat well. Marinate in the refrigerator for 24 to 48 hours.
4. Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat and lightly oil grate.
5. Remove the meat from the marinade and discard the remaining marinade. Cook on high, 1 to 2 minutes per side, to sear the meat. Turn the heat down to low and cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until the it has reached the desired doneness.
i hope it will help:-)
I always do MOJO. It is a spanish style bar-b-q sauce. If you can find it in a store local to you you can make it.
Lime juice, complete seasoning,a little cumin, garlic, chopped onions. make enought to cover the steaks and let it set a couple hrs before cooking.
Serve with rice and black beans and a salad
Good luck!
