Do you think I should use kidney or black beans for this soup?!
I was thinking about pitting diced garlic in it also, what do you think?
Anything else you might throw in there?

Kidney beans sound really good. Just drain them well. But the green beans in the recipe does not sound good to me. I would do broccoli.
I'd stick with kidney beans or canned white beans for this recipe, which appears to be a "open and dump" kind of thing! Since it has green beans in it, and chopped green pepper, you don't really need to add anything else, unless you want to convert it to a real vegetable soup. Instead of beans, consider potatos or even rice. You can also add diced green chili's and a teaspoon of cumin powder for a southwestern flavor, along with a can of whole kernal sweet corn and diced tomatos.
Black beans are great with chicken and beef. Kidney beans are great with turkey! Yes, add the garlic, that would be good. Pretty much any type of bean would be good for this soup. I prefer black beans though.
I think either type of beans would be tasty.
Garlic would be good too.
Since it's a veggie soup, you could add any veggies - corn, peas, whatever you have that you want to add.
If you want to thicken it up, you could add pasta or some rice.
Black beans with turkey or chicken. Kidney beans with beef.
