Soup I made is too salty and too much pasta?!


Question: Yesterday I made a "chicken orzo soup"...well, I screwed it up. When all was said and done, the broth boiled almost completely down and my orzo sucked up the rest of it! It would have tasted very yummy if it wasnt so salty. I added way too much sea salt in it.
I saved the leftovers...but I was wondering should I add like a gallon of boiling water to this mixture to make it into a soup again? Or what do you suggest to cut the salty taste?

Just go ahead and divide it into to equal bowls and add 2 cups of water to each bowl! Then mix each bowl good and reheat one bowl up in the micro wave on low power for about ,8 minutes!

If you don't have a micro wave, use a kettle! But heat it slow! When it gets up to temperature a little more the warm, taste test it, if it is still to salty add another cup of water! The reason you don't want to get it too hot right away, is so you don't get every over cooked!

When ever cooking with sea salt, you have to be careful on how much you use! If a recipe says 4 table spoons of sea salt, use 2 table spoons at first, then taste test when it's done to see if it would need anymore! The broth has salt in it too! So when using broth, it recommends to add water with it, if you don't and then add sea salt besides, well you will end up with very salty results!

I find it much easier to add salt and pepper, after the food is all done cooking, then you can add to taste! Many times when cooking with butters or margarine, it will have salt already in the food then! Sea salt is a lot more saltier tasting then regular store boughten table salt, so you have to be a lot more careful using sea salt! Lesser is always better then too much, you can always add, but once too much added! Well the only thing else can do is dilute with water!

Campbell soups and most other brands of soups have sea salt in them, but they also, in the directions say add a can of water, because the soup is concentrated! Other words it will be salty if you don't add water!

what i use if i over salt is peal and cut an onion in half.let it sit there for about 30 min.and it makes it way less salty.you can add boiling water to the soup.

all you can do is make the soup stock with out the salt. than add some of the o/g soup to it until you like the taste.

Yes,add noodles.
And yeah add some spice.It will be deli-so-si-o.

I really wouldn't recommend adding more broth to your soup because you have to remember that broth has a very high concentration of salt in it and is just going to make you dish more salty then it already is, I am assuming if you allowed all the liquid to boil out of it accidentally then the orzo is REALLY puffy and kind of slimy right?? In my experience ( because I have done this before, many times) I usually wind up tossing it because if you try to boil it again it's going to basically disintegrate, so I'm sorry to report that this one just might be a dud, don't worry happens to me all the time. But maybe someone will come up with an idea that I haven't thought of yet, and then we will both benefit! Good Luck and Happy Feasting!!!

yes add some water and pepper to taste. you can add some vegetables also if you like

put little bit of lemon and put some water.
