I think that's terrific you want to cook for them!

By going to the yahoo home page and typing "easy dinner recipes" I found a bunch of links, but this one looked really good.

You might want to check it out, or do the query yourself and see the other links that yahoo suggested.

Bon app!

No problem - I understand :) Have fun during your visit!!! :)))) Report It

  • Breakfast ... have fresh biscuits (you can use the 'canned' ones you get at the store and bake yourself) with sugar free preserves, freshly squeezed orange juice, and coffee or tea.
For lunch have a nice salad, but make it with 'baby greens' instead of just lettuce, and use fresh mushrooms, sliced or diced tomatoes, cucumber (peeled), grated cheese (use an 'extra sharp cheddar' or crumble feta or grate some Swiss cheese or Jarlsberg, or use a 'combination' including parmesan/romano/asaigo, and some cooked chicken breast you 'dice' and have a nice 'vinaigrette' dressing. Serve with rye bread (the darker the better, but you may use a 'lighter Jewish rye, too, if they are 'old fashioned' that you toast, or 'bread sticks' with real butter.
For supper, have FRESH or 'flash frozen' fish (saute it or poach it in white wine) with fresh asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes (roast the garlic and mash it with the spuds or you can buy it 'instant' in bags, if you hide the bags from your grandparents if you want them to think you 'did it from scratch).
For 'dessert' have some nice DARK CHOCOLATE 'truffles' and wine (a dessert wine, red) ... and coffee or tea.
I know ... it's a 'gourmet' day of food, but it's also very healthy (even if you use real butter, as long as you don't use too much) and your grandparents should be VERY IMPRESSED at your 'skill' as well as get some hints about 'healthy eating' ...

Experimenting with new menu items should be done BEFORE the arrival of the guests you wish to impress.

I suggest that you prepare things that are easy. Add a bit of effort to the presentation.

Quiche for breakfast. Quiche sounds really cool, but it is just scrambled eggs baked in the oven. Add the stuff you would put in an omelet. The trickiest part to quiche is that yu cook it 450 for 15 minutes so that it gets a "skin" on the top to seal in moisture, then 325 for 30-40 minutes. Not very tricky, is it?

A red plaid table cloth makes spaghetti and garlic bread an elegant meal.

I like a couple pounds of pork loin cooked in the crock-pot. Prepare immediately after lunch. Rinse the loin and dropit in. No water required, but you can add the liquid from the mushrooms now, if you like. Cook on high about 5 hours. Add quartered potatoes and a can of mushrooms with the liquid 1 1/2 hours before completion. Add a bit of flour and 1/4 cup heavy cream 1/2 hour before completion for sauce/gravy. Nuke frozen vegetables at the last minute and serve.
