Is there a way to keep peeled potatoes fresh?!

Question: Once each week I make beef stew for my husband. I start it in the morning in the crock pot before I leave for work. But I have found that peeling potatoes in the morning is very time consuming. Is there any way I can peel the potatoes the night before and add them to the stew in the morning without them turning?

This would really help me out a lot.

I usually peel the potatoes (rinse & clean) then I and put them in a bowl of water inside the refrigerator. Make sure the water covers the potatoes completely. This will keep them fresh although sometimes my refrigerator is so cold it freezes the water and they're no good.

put them in a bowl of cold water and cover it with reynolds wrap. then place it in the refridgerator.

keep them in cold water in the fridge make sure they r covered

you can put them in a bowl of water which is what i suggest most or you can put some lemon juice on them. The lemon just stops them from turning brown.

As you peel them, place each potato into a big pot of tap water. All potatoes should be submerged in the water. Than keeps them from turning dark. Refrigerate pot of potatoes until needed.

If you cut them and put them in water im pretty sure they will not turn.

all answers are right sometimes if u have a hard water area add a little squeeze of lemon....it keeps the oxygen away which is what makes the potatoes go brown:) all good answers sweet lady :)

You can peel and cut the potatoes , place them in a bowl with cold water and then add one or two tablespoons of milk. Refrigerate and add them to the stew in the morning.
