I have a nice steak and would love some ideas on how to cook it right.?!
Answers: i have no A1 sauce no mushrooms,i do have onions though, please i'd love to here your ways to do this right, thank you bye.
let it set to room temp, salt it well and cook it on a hot griddle or pan lightly coated with oil ( i like olive oil). Fry up your onions in the same pan and enjoy your yummy steak!
AB's simple steak in an Iron Skillet:
Place 10 to 12-inch cast iron skillet in oven and heat oven to 500 degrees. Bring steak(s) to room temperature.
When oven reaches temperature, remove pan and place on range over high heat. Coat steak lightly with oil and season both sides with a generous pinch of salt. Grind on black pepper to taste.
Immediately place steak in the middle of hot, dry pan. Cook 30 seconds without moving. Turn with tongs and cook another 30 seconds, then put the pan straight into the oven for 2 minutes. Flip steak and cook for another 2 minutes. (This time is for medium rare steaks. If you prefer medium, add a minute to both of the oven turns.)
Remove steak from pan, cover loosely with foil, and rest for 2 minutes. Serve whole or slice thin and fan onto plate.
Marinate in 1 C Soy Sauce, 3 C water, 6 Cloves minced garlic for about 3 hours. Grill slowly over med heat. Eat. Enjoy! If you don't have a grill you can broil it in the oven. Same taste.
Medium rare or Rare or Well Done Or Any Kind Of Those and With A barbecue sauce.
Butter and Salt and Pepper in Frying Pan
High Heat
Melt butter Salt / Pepper
Fry on high with cover on while turning steak every few minutes.
Cook to taste. I prefer Medium Rare with a well done outside.
1 tsp. grated lemon peel
2/3 c. lemon juice
1/3 c. salad oil
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. Accent (MSG)
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. mustard
1 tsp. garlic powder
Mix all ingredients. Pour over thick steak and marinade 6 hours in refrigerator. Turn over half way (3 hours). Broil 10 minutes each side. Slice, pour marinade over and put back in oven a few minutes.
If you have worcestershire(spelled right?) sauce, cook the steak slowly on a grill(stove top if you can't), trying to get it rare as you want it to be. Right before its done, spread the sauce all over it and continue cooking. The sauce will cook into the meat. If you did have a1 or steak sauce, you could mix it with the worcestershire and apply like so.
you may try marinating in a red wine , i like blackberry myself , season heavily w/ fresh cracked pepper + grill or broil quickly
I marinate my steaks in the following:
1 cup soy sauce
1 cup orange juice
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (or hot sauce)
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1/2 onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, crushed
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Then I cook them on a grill pan or broil them. If you have the availability of an outdoor charcoal grill, that's even better.
I own a restaurant and am a fulltime cook. With meat you do not want to over kill it with herbs and sauces. i would simple marinate it for a couple of hours with salt, b. pepper and onion juice which can be obtainted by grating a white onion.. Do not use to much of the juice because it has a strong odor and flavor. With your extra onions, grill them enough to take out the bitterness. just when they are done, pat them down with some corn oil, touch of lemon juice, salt and pepper.
The best way that i have found...was to cook it on top of the stove with a medium flame.. season the meat put about a 1/2 of cup water in the pan and add some cooking oil...let it boil the water shouldn't cover the meat though....as the water cooks off.. add some more water if necessary.....when you think the meat is done the water should have evaporated off and the oil well start frying it......let it fry on both sides and take out.....umm..umm....good...don't forget to put the onions in....and dont put alot of oil.........
p.s:it might take you a minute to get it to perfection.....
.....good luck......
I also do it the way that the first answer (Jaclyn) said to do it. Then after the steak is done through in the onions and saute them. Then pour 2 cups of water in the pan. Put 2 Tbsp. of corn starch in a cup of cold water, stir until dissolved, then add to the mixture and stir over med. to low heat, then you have brown gravy to go on your steak or mashed potatoes.
I would use what you have and if you have a can of rotel or a can of chopped tomatoes add it all together wrap it in foil bake at 375 for how well done you like. also italian dressing works well.Drain the can of your chose.Sounds good to me!
Coat the steak with olive oil and cracked black pepper and salt. Toss on a grill set on high. Cook about 6 minutes each side, watching closely and turn only once. Temp should reach about 160.
Remove from grill, cover with foil and let rest for 5 minutes before eating.
As far as steak sauce and the woman who said *shudder* barbecue sauce.....barbarians. Eat it as it was meant to be with just alittle salt and pepper.
