I know this will seem like a silly question, but does anyone know how to preserve a raw unpeeled potato?!

Question: It is just that it is a neat shape and I would like to keep it around for a while, I know weird, what can I say!!

hi
i think burying it in a bucket of sand worked for
jamie oliver he did the same with different vegetables
so could work for potatos

You could try freezing it.

keep it in water like get a glass jar and fill it with water and put the potato in the glass jar

Well, I would try keeping it submerged in cold water. Don't know how long it will last though. lol

yeh weird! put it in water in the fridge, should last a week or two, change the water though or it will go slimy, don't know if you the weird one or me for knowing that!

As the other have said, totally submerge it in a screw top jar but I'd add a good dessertspoon of salt as a preservative as well. Then pop it in the fridge.

Make a plaster cast of it and then you will have it foever.

If you would like to keep it for as long as you live, get it freeze-dried by a taxidermist. That's how they do a lot of presreving animals and fish these days...

freeze it.
If you put it in water for a long period of time it will mold.

Do you mean stopping it from sprouting weird little sprout legs? Just tuck it into bed! Wrap it in some paper towel and put it in the cupboard (or somewhere else cool and dark). My potatoes last for up to 6 weeks enjoying a quiet little nap!
