How do you get the fat off meatloaf?!
I love meatloaf, but don′t like the loaf sitting in grease. How do I avoid this the next time I make it?

I have a small cooling rack (like you cool cookies on) and put that in the bottom of the pan. They aren't very high at all, but keep the meatloaf from just bathing in the grease while it's baking.
Also, not sure what meat you are using, but ground sirloin has a lot less grease - I use that instead of ground beef.
The best way is to buy lean ground beef....If that isn't an option...transfer it to a platter or another pan once cooked...
skim and drain
Half way through baking take the pan out of the oven, use pot holders, put a rack or knife in place to hold it and drain the fat into a garbage can, bowl, etc. (just not down the drain). You may have to repeat as necessary. Aslco, when it's finished, drain it on a rack to cool, the fat will drip off.
put two pieces of bread in the bottom of your pan..will soak up alot of the oil!!!!
Skip using "ground beef" first of all. Usually packed with ice chips by most suppliers to make weight heavier. Also, you do not want to know what goes into ground beef. Trust me, dad worked in a packing plant and then for the USDA.
Buy lean ground chuck or sirloin. Use a cookie cooling rack in your pan with foil under it for easy clean up.
I actually have the same problem but decided to try making meatloaf with turkey burger and it tasted the same but without all the fat. Give it a try!
