I used to always fry with Crisco until I knew it was bad for me. It works great for frying, better than oil in my opinion. Great for donuts! It leaves no taste behind, so you just get the food taste.

Shortening has no flavor at all. I was brought up on Crisco shortening - everything was fried in it. You can use them interchangeably but remember solid shortening in any form has more transfats than liquid oil.

Crisco was the original frying oil in America. So yes it cooks like oil.

It will be fine, it's just about like oil. It melts "thinner" than oil, in some ways it fries better.

I use Crisco rather often for frying. It will taste a little different from oil, but not very.

Pls use the fry tantoor option on the Microwave........
