How long do you cook pork roast in crock pot before adding hot dogs & sauerkraut?!

Question: My gram told me to put in it on for about 3hrs then add the others. Do I just put water over it til it's cooked then drain and add sauerkraut? And is that 3hrs on high or low?

OMG...I am from Pennsylvania .......Beaver Valley Area. 20 minutes from Pittsburgh....I live in Texas now...I cook pork roast and sauerkraut all of the time. We love it! I usually put it in the crock pot before I go to work in the morning......when I get home I add the sauerkraut and hot dogs...crank up the heat to high and let them cook 45 minutes to an hour while I fix the rest of the meal. I like to eat my sauerkraut on home-made mashed potatoes.....so yummy!

You know, I have answered over eight thousand questions on here and have over 46000 points and have seen every question imaginable ...

...until this.

It almost looks like you are asking about adding hot dogs and saurkraut to pork roast? I've never heard of such a combination.

I'm going to watch the answers on this one for a long time. You finally left me with my jaw hanging.

By the way, for crock pot roasts, start on high for an hour, then cut it back to low for the last two hours. And I'd imagine you'd want to drain most of the water before adding the other stuff.

what a combination

I would probably wait a lifetime to do that. Enjoy! Do you top it with whipped cream or what?

I would imagine since hot dogs and suarkraut take only a short time to cook then they would need added about 30 mins before the roast is fully done.

This actually sounds like something I would like to try, since I like hot dogs and kraut anyway, a little roast in with it sounds good.

I can't believe no one heard of pork and kraut, go to ''cooks.com'' then type in pork and saurkraut. I use kraut from a plastic bag, its fresher and better tasting then the canned. You can actually eat the kraut raw, try it since you'll have it. If your not german you might like rinsing it first to get some of the salt taste out. Then put half the kraut in your slow cooker then the pork on top of that. Put the rest of the kraut on the pork, I chop an onion in it and some caraway seeds. just a pinch though. Add water up to the bottom of the roast, you might need more in a few hours so watch it. Put some potatoes and carrots in with it if you want (i do). I also put a small amount of dark brown sugar on top of everything if company is eating it. (it makes it sweeter, apple works too) I cook the whole works on low all day (8ish hours). Since you sound like your from pittsburgh look in Giant Eagle by the fresh meat section for the saurkraut (krisp kraut). I hope it works out for you, good luck.

hot dogs huh?

I've never done that before, makes me want to try that!

I cook my pork roast in the crock pot with saur kraut and a can of chopped or stewed tomatoes. I salt and pepper the roast and add just a little water to cook in. I serve it with mashed yellow potatoes and applesauce.

I've never put hot dogs in it though. What kind do you use?

I'm a jersey girl btw.
