The yellow comes from the egg yolks. I haven't had Denny's french toast in years but here goes.
1) mix up 1 egg for each slice of taost, and an equal amount of milk, a bit of vanilla and a dash of cinnamon
2) soak the bread for a good 10 minutes, turning at least once. The custard needs to be all through the bread.
3) good in a small amount of butter over medium heat - do not rush the cooking. That's what makes the taost brown.
4) Turn only once when the toast is perfect on the first side, then cook until the second side is browned also.
5) To be like Denny's serve with fake maple syrup.
lots of butter..make sure the pan is hot before you put in pan. what i do is sprinkle some cinnamon on toast before you drop in pan

I tried them and they were just like Denny's. Make sure you use a cast iron griddle or pan; the teflon doesn't work as well with these.
Happy eatings!
cook SLOWLY. don't turn the heat up too much, it's much much better to have it on a lower heat and take longer than to rush it and have them burn.. good luck!
Start offf with using real french bread. I like med thick slices but cut to your preference. Soak in egg/milk mixture . You can add a drop of vanilla if you like. Cook on stove top in frying pan over medium heat in buttery. Lightly brown each side- don't flip too early. My secret is to sprinkle a little confectionary sugar on top and serve with WARM maple syrup. Enjoy!
