I have a jar of alfredo garlic sauce, what can I add to it so it isn't so rich without watering it down?!
Thanks.
Answers: I don't want it to taste watered down or be really thin but the sauce itself is too rich for me. What could I add to it that will make it so its not quite so strong without making it runny or taste funny?
Thanks.
my suggestion would be a combination of milk and chicken broth and no more than a 1/4 cup at a time, it will thin up quicker than you think
I would heat it as it is on the stovetop, slowly adding some chicken broth or white wine, or even a combination of the two.
I know what you're saying--it's just too rich and thick!
Ooh, you also might want to add just a couple teaspoons of lemon zest (not juice). It really cuts through the heaviness of foods without adding a strong lemon flavor.
you could try adding a little bit of milk
Try adding heavy cream or half and half. It won't make it watery, but it will thin out alot of the flavor.
It's funny you would ask this, as I find all of the jar alfredos to be so lacking in flavor, I would be asking for advice on how to "doctor" them up, not take flavor out.
Chicken broth, or milk!
Just use less, and coat your pasta with it instead of spooning it on......
add some milk to it, and if it takes away all the taste add some garlic powder and some parmigiana cheese i would add all of those anyway...
1.milk
2.garlic powder
3.parmigiana cheese
also if you want to make it from scratch here's the recipe:
half of stick of margarine or butter
1 package of cream cheese
let that melt
add some milk
add garlic powder to taste
about half of cup of parmigiana cheese
salt pepper.
you can add any of these ingredient to your meal too
marzeties original slaw dressing along with three finely chopped hard boiled eggs , go easy on the dressing, start with one guarter of the jar ,add more to taste
If you use canned chicken, then the broth with the chicken will thin it down some. That will help. If not, use regular canned broth (chicken, vegetable, whichever you like). Just use the juice sparingly. A little thins a long way.
