Using pizza dough that hasn't risen?!
Answers: I made some pizza dough a few hrs ago, and it's been 1hr since I let it stand but it hasn't risen yet (probably b/c I used baking soda instead of yeast, i didn't have any:(..So I was wondering whether it would be alright to still use the dough? Would it change the pizza's taste, or not?? anyway, thanks for any help=)
Yeah, using baking soda is definitely not a good substitution.
Try baking it without the cheese & see how you like the texture . (so you dont waste the cheese and toppings) and if yuo like the texture, add the cheese and put it in the oven again, under broil
I wouldn't use it. Dough will be tough.
it really wont taste that much different. The crust won't rise as much and will be harder then normal...
you can use it but it will probably be a bit chewy

Try the dough as it is now. I personaly don't think it will work, but give it a shot. Baking soda won't rise on its own. You have to use some sort of acid, like cream of tartar or buttermilk to get it to work.
You should have used baking powder. Now the dough will have a salty taste, and it will remain flat when you bake it.
I agree, baking powder would have been a better substitute, but it's not a total loss!! Your crust just won't get nice and fluffy. No different, however, than say a pita bread crust or those pre-made pizza pita crust things they sell at the store!! I would not fret over it too much. Roll your crust out as you normally would and add your toppings. Will be a little different version than what you are use to...no yeasty, bready taste...but I am sure it will be fine. Not like you substituted battery acid for the yeast!! So I am sure it will be edible.
