Oatmeal...blah!! What do you add to it for flavor?!

Question: I'm boring myself. I just like to add cinnamon or brown sugar but I got a good site for you with some ideas. Check the source.

There's a few things:

? Milk and brown suger
? Rasins or crasins
? Blueberries and/or strawberries

Butter, brown sugar, cinnamon or honey and butter

You can add lots of things to perk up oatmeal

My grandmother use to put butter, sugar and milk in her bowl of oatmeal.

I do the same........but add cinnamon and raisins.

My friend adds chocolate chips and says it tastes like a cookie.

Maple syrup and brown sugar

i love oatmeal in the morning!
when you cook it throw in about a tablespoon of brown sugar or maple syrup and some chopped walnuts!
its fiber and protein with a sweet taste.
dried fruit is yummy in it too but instead of brown sugar i put in 2 tsps of white sugar.

i love adding craisins. i will also add some granola. i always need to have something to crunch on.

If you are on diet. Try adding Splenda to it. I recently started oatmeal and i buy the fruit mix flavor, where there's strawberries and cream and other nice fruity flavor and they taste really good. This is good alternative to regular flavor oatmeal.

brown sugar and bananas:)

sugar and butter...yum

Cinnamon and raisins.

1-2 packets of sugar substitute. I usually add 1 because it cuts the bland oatmeal flavor without being overly sweet. And it doesn't add lots of extra calories like you would get from brown sugar, regular sugar, maple syrup, or honey. I also like to add just a few dashes of cinnamon and nutmeg and some chunks of apple.

My mom always put
Butter and Sugar

and so do I!
^^

I eat it plain, actually. If I add something to it, I use raisins or other dried fruit. And nuts.

Just bear in mind that sugar has about 15 calories for every TEASPOON. Most people use several TABLESPOONS. So, if you want to add a couple hundred calories to your oatmeal, go ahead, but you might as well eat a bear claw instead.

it sounds like you are used to eating sugary things. If you really want to eat healthy, you have to get yourself acclimated to eating things that aren't loaded with sugar.

Or, eat a bear claw instead and don't fool yourself into thinking you're eating healthy.

Oatmeal is blah because the oats are turned into "meal". Oats don't have to be watered down. You can eat them dry. Then they don't have to be sugared up.

Or - you could add oats to rice, millet, etc
Or - you could cook oats in their original state: Oat groats.

If you don't like grain plain.....well, people aren't natrually grain eaters. We're fruit eaters. My diet's been 1/3 fruit for 12 years, and it's a sweet life.

hi there, you get an A+ for eating oatmeal plain!! Try adding these ingredients to make your oatmeal have more flavor!

- add a tbsp of peanut butter ( or if you can afford more calories you can always add more)

- You can always do Oats with swiss miss

- Add fruits and nuts (such as cooked apples with cinnamon or bananas
- Add milk, cinnamon and frozen berries
- Add raisins and brown sugar
- Dried cranberries &vanilla and sugar, butter
- Dried or Fresh mangos & banana, vanilla and sugar, butter
- Instead of cooking it with water try milk it add a creamy texture to it!!
- Maple syrup
- Honey
- Nutmeg (try mixing it with something sweet)
- Cinnamon sugar
- yogurt

add vanilla
ground sugar cinnamon
or just add sugar
..milk
idk

i only eat the cooked stuff, not the instant. I add ahandful of raisins to the watere while its heating. They plump up & supply enough sweetness that no sugar is needed. I LOVE oatmeal!!!

sugar substitute (i'm diabetic), nondairy creamer, and a sprinkle of cinnamon (good for your heart!)...when in season, I also like to add fresh-out-of-the-garden strawberries or raspberries or peaches :D

Brown sugar and cinnamon with a splash of milk. I always start with brown sugar and cinn, sometimes I also add some chopped apples, raisens, craisens, choc chips, any dried fruit, or fresh fruit. My absolute fav though is a scoop of vanilla ice cream. A little odd I know but so good, it's also good with with a pecan ice cream.

freash fruit, jams, or jelly, honey even chocolate syrup.
