Can I make crock pot chili with frozen ground beef or should I thaw first?!

Question: If it's frozen in a block, put it in a pot of water and boil it until it's cooked. Then drain off the water and add the beef to the crock pot. You could even get the other ingredients started in the crock pot, while you wait.

You should thaw it and/or brown it first before adding it to the crock pot.

dethaw it. cook it half way. ad then put it in the crock pot

You need to thaw it out, and brown it first. Add some onion and garlic when cooking the meat. Drain off all the grease, or your chili will be greasy.

You can make it with the frozen hamburger. Just add all the other ingredients and turn it on. After a few hours you are going to have to break up the hamburger though, or it will just cook into a giant hamburger surrounded by tomato juice and beans. :-)

brown it off a little first.
It will help the natural juices stay in the meat a little longer making a better tasting bite of meat.

You need to thaw, brown and drain it first. If you don't it'll be really REALLY greasy and the meat cold stay in one clump.

I would thaw it first then brown it drain the grease and put into your crock pot. I know I always forget to take out the Ham burger for thawing too.
