Question: Does it ever go bad? Because I've got one from way back when... lets say about a year.

It can go rancid...... you will ruin your food with rancid oil..... it will have a nasty smell or a bad taste..... don't use it if bad.

If it has been refrigerated it stands a better chance of being good..... but check it out first by smell....and if it passes smell....then taste it..... just to make sure.

You will know by the smell. If it smells rancid throw it out.

Suet as it is known, lasts for ever it seems.
it will smell revolting if it is no longer suitable for consumption.

this product is known as a long lifer!! It can last up to 2 years before going rancid!!

My current can of Crisco was bought over 3 years ago. I opened it in Dec. 07 for the first time and today was the most recent time. It's fine...like brand new. It goes rancid when exposed to higher temperatures. I'm sure your's is fine since you've had it in the fridge.
