What's the difference: crepe and pancake?!
eg. ingredients, etc.
Answers: I know they are eaten differently, but is there another difference?
eg. ingredients, etc.
pancakes contain more flour, and a bit of leavening, so they will rise and become "cakey" and fluffy. They are mostly made as breakfast food, and the fluffiness absorbs butter and syrups.
Crepes are only a little bit of flour, and no leavening, mostly egg. This makes them thin and a little crisp on the edge, and eggy. They are delicate and made to either be sauteed in a sweetened alcohol syurp (orange brandy) or to contain more delicate fillings like fruits, chicken in cream sauces.
Pancakes are breakfast, Crepes are anytime and for dessert.
crepes are very thin and have a more egg-y taste
pancakes are fluffier and fatter and are more sugary
Crepes are thinner than pancakes. Usually they are cooked a bit more crisp and have more exotic sauces. It is generally more work to create crepes but it is worth it from time to time. I like to put a strawberry sauce with powdered sugar.
one is a thinner batter that is coating the pan and then flipped. The other is a thicker batter and they stand alone in the pan and are flipped.. one is very thin....the other is thick.
The main ingredient's in pancakes is leavened flour, egg is added as a binder...milk is added for consistency.
In crepes eggs are the main ingredient, flour as the binder and milk is for consistency.
