What are some simple meals I can make after a long day at work?!
Thanks!
Answers: I am going back to work soon and I have 2 toddlers so I need some easy meals. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
I love to use packaged flavored noodles, such as alfredo or chicken flavored. Make according to directions right in the microwave, and then add canned chicken, tuna or my favorite-canned roast beef. With the beef, I usually just use a fork to flake it straight from the can into the prepared noodles. You can also use ramen noodles as a varient. You can also add your favorite canned veggies as well if you want. Or use the microwave to melt in a couple of slices of cheese for extra flavor. Lots of room to play here. Experiment with your personal tastes and find what you like. Very easy, very quick, very inexpensive and very tasty! Kids love these!

There are fantastic recipes for breakfast to dinner, entrees to desserts and lunchbox delights.
You will be super surprised and delighted with the fantastic dishes you can create using this easy to follow cookbook AND with ingredients mainly already found in your pantry!
If you are a busy person, or on a tight budget, have moved out of home, are still fine tuning your culinary skills, are going camping, are on the move and haven't a lot of room for a full pantry, OR you simply haven't had time to do the groceries, then this is the book for you!
Break out the slow cooker! Put stuff on to cook before you leave, then come home to dinner being ready!
I'd also suggest cooking ahead: a big pot of soup or a casserole in teh fridge, to warm up as needed; chicken/tuna salad, pasta w/ simple sauces; sloppy joes; grilled meat and cheese sandwiches; fresh fruit for desserts; green salads w/ dressing already made (or purchased) ahead
I always liked my slow-cooker, and used it a lot when my children were at home and I worked full time. There are many varieties of food you can cook in it--beefstew, vegetable soup, pot roast, turkey breast, barbequed country ribs, chili, meatballs, etc. Sometimes you may find a receipe book that contains nothing but slow cooker receipes. You can start your meal in the a.m. before work, let it cook on low all day, and then turn it down to keep the food warm until everyone is ready to set down. Most receipes will cook 8 to 10 hours in a slow cooker. Not only delicious, but healthy for your children as well. Good luck:)

The Fix-It and Forget-It Cookbooks are awesome! My mom bought a different one for me and each of my sisters and we all love them. They're super simple with basic ingredients that you generally have on hand. Since they're slow-cooker recipes, you can throw them together in the morning, and everything's ready at dinnertime. My sister has three little kids and loves hers.

my family loves this slow cooker dish coat pork chops lightly with flour then brown in olive oil chop up potato's and onions throw browned pork chops in the bottom put potato's and sweet onions in put a dash or two of ground pepper and some paprika add one can of cream of mushroom or cream of celery soup and let cook it makes the most delicious gravy and the pork chops melt like butter
Get a crock pot. Put stuff in there in the morning, like prok or beef roasts, or this was good...I'm trying to remember it cuz the recipe is packed away. But it was about 10 chicken thighs bone on. I jar of your fave salsa, 1/2 onion chopped, and 1 tablespoon curry, I'm not big on curry so I only did half a tablespoon. Cook on med for all day. When you get home take the chicken out of the crock pot and put it on a serving platter. Add 1/2 cup sour cream to the remaining sauce. Mix well and then spoon over the chicken. Serve over rice or cous-cous.
You can also take up one day a week or even one day a month and make up some casserroles, lasagnas, meatloafs etc... Use disposable pans or buy a couple more cheap casserole pans. Label well and freeze. Take out 2 or 3 a week and let them thaw in the fridge. Toss in the oven when youget home.
You could also buy some pork chops, and chicken breasts. Place them in baggies with different marinades, Keep them in the fridge or freeze them. Bake or fry or even b-b-q.
Use rice or pasta's and sometimes packaged rices, noodles, or potato products. But don't use the pre-packaged stuff more to often cuz it's full of salt and other junk. There are also great potato and veggies items in the frezzer section, still full of salt if you get the stuff with a sauce on them but it counts as a fresh veggie.
Using frozen veggies can be nice cuz youcan use what you want for the night then toss it back in the freezer. If you want fresh produce though take one day a week such as sunday or saturday to peel and slice all your veggies for the week. Keep them in seperate containers, and just pull them out for salads, veggies to go with stir fry, or in rice, or with pasta etc...
A can of soup and a salad.

One dish dinners would be good. I like to make arroz con pollo. Basically, it is a rice and chicken dish, it has sausage mushrooms tomatoes and peppers. In my version any way. Lasagna is another candidate, i have made a couple of yummy ones using the recipe on the pasta box. Good luck
