Are store brand bratwurst, franks, etc the same as authentic German ones?!
Answers: For instance, Boar's Head bratwurst or franks that are sold in major supermarkets. Are they basically the same as authentic German ones (from Germany). If not, what's the difference?
Word play here- if the product is not from Germany it isn't German. If the brats are made with veal and pork from a German recipe then it can be called 'German style'. Germany has some food preparation regulations regarding cooking time, equipment care that maybe different from other countries- you would have to compare preparations. One country may say cook at 190 degrees for 5 minutes after product is done, others may say meat to be heated to 180 degrees in center before grinding, mixing and stuffing then only needs 1 minute immersion in 210 degree/boiling water.
If it's "authentic German" it has to come from Germany.
If it's not from Germany, it's "German style".
