Buttercream (Vanilla) Frosting

6 tablespoons butter , softened (no substitutions)
3 tablespoons 35% cream , unwhipped (or you may use 18% cream or half and half or full-fat milk, but will not be as creamy)
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups confectioners' sugar
food coloring (optional)
In a bowl, beat together the butter, whipping cream and vanilla until smooth (about 3 minutes). Add in confectioners sugar; beat very well until smooth, adding more if necessary to achieve desired consistency.

Note: In order for the icing to have a creamy texture, only whipping cream must be used.

nfd?

Butter for margarine is fine.

Here is an easy vanilla frosting:

1/2 c. squeeze butter
1 tsp. vanilla
Dash salt
4 c. sifted confectioners' sugar (powdered sugar)
2 tbsp. milk

Combine butter, vanilla and salt. Add sugar alternately with milk, beating until light and fluffy.

mix with your blender 2 sticks of softened butter
add one cup of sifted confectioners sugar, add slowly while blending
blend in one small jar of marshmallow fluff
you can add a tiny bit of vanilla extract, but only about 1/2 tsp

this also makes a really yummy cream filling that you can pipe into the cupcakes

Fluffy Frosting

1/4 cup Pillsbury BEST? All Purpose Flour
1 cup milk
3/4 cup Crisco? Butter Shortening
1-1/4 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons buttermilk

1. In small saucepan, combine flour and milk.
2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly.
3. Heat to boiling; cook, stirring constantly, for 5 to 8 minutes, or until very thick.
4. Cool completely.
5. In medium bowl, combine Butter Flavor Crisco, sugar, and vanilla.
6. Add thickened mixture.
7. Beat on high speed of electric mixer for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and creamy.
8. Spread on cooled cake.

1. Mix 2 sticks of butter in a mixer.
2. Add 1 tbs of vanilla and a few tablespoons of sour cream. 3. Add 2 cups of powdered sugar
4. Mix at medium to medium high speed for 2 minutes.

It will be a light fluffy frosting that's not too sweet. The margerine will throw off the recipe. :-)

well, a really easy recipe for frosting is made with (a lot) of powdered sugar, (a little) vanilla, butter, and that's really the basic outline. You can add water if you want it thinner or stuff, but i like recipes like this the best because you never know how its gonna turn out. i don't think it really matters whether you use margarine or not, because my dad always used it and his frosting tasted the best.

also, you can like tweak it and add a little bit of other stuff, like if you want to make chocolate, put in some cocoa powder.

If you want more *ahem* complete recipes, i normally use allrecipes.com

I have used their recipes before and some are really good.

Good luck!
