What is the easiest way to dispose of cooking grease?!
Answers: After you brown ground beef or sausage, etc. How do you dispose of the grease you drain off? I've heard of a product called "Just Toss-it", but I cannot find such a product.
I pour the oil or grease in a jar and toss it in the bin, never in the sink. I also use paper towels to wipe the excess grease from the pan.
i usually save the grease in a clean can and use it for cooking other things. or i save it in a can and store it under the sink and then throw it out when it hardens.
my dad used to just throw it over the fence hahah.
I run really hot water and pour it down the sink - been doing this for years and never had a problem.
I run it down the drain and then throw down some dawn with the hot water running for a few minutes. I am sure this is not the best way though. Otherwise if it is cooking grease.. I wait until it cools then I dump it back into the jug it came in, screw the cap back on and throw it out.
Put it in an empty coffee can or other tin, let it cool and harden and then toss it. I wouldn't put it down the drain unless you want to wind up buying Draino or Mr. Plumber anytime soon.
You need to put it in a can and let it harden then throw it away with food scraps.
If you want to get rid of it, just poor it down sink while running VERY HOT WATER. Also, if your plumber suggests you don't do that, poor into a mason jar or something along those lines and toss when it has hardened. It doesn't have to harden, you can just toss it when you poor it.
I usually run hot water down the drain first with a little dishsoap, turn on the garbage disposal and slowly pour it down the drain.
My family takes an old coffee tin and pours it in the there. Keep it in the fridge and keep it covered. When its full, it will be hard and your can just throw it away :)
I take all of my cooking "grease" and oil and drain it - using a funnel - into an old laundry detergent bottle. When it's full, I "recycle" it at a local restaurant who sells excess cooking oil to a larger recycler.
It's an environmentally-friendly way to get rid of the grease and saves your drains from clogging.
Hope that this helps!
Well, this what my mom and I do. We use old mayonaise jars or peanutbutter jars or jars along those lines. They must have a lid. What we do is everytime we need to get rid of grease we either pour or ladle it with a small gravy ladle into the jar and we do this repeatdly until the jar is filled up over time and then we put the jar full of grease into the garbage. We usually keep the jar under the sink with the cleaning supplies until it gets full. Hope this helps.
I save a few cans from food like soup tins, wash them and keep them in a cupboard. When I have grease from frying I just pour the fat into one of these cans. Wait until it hardens (chicken fat will kind of harden but other fats stay liquid). Then I put a piece of foil on the top and throw it out. You can also keep the can in the fridge for awhile collecting more grease, then throw it out when it's full. Never put grease down your kitchen sink. But you can put it down your toilet. I've done that too.
I just let it cool and put it in the trash (if it is an empty new bag, I wait until there is some garbage in it). If there is a lot, I will store it in a coffee can until it is full and then toss it.
dont pour it down the sink.sooner or later youll have major back up problems. keep it in a can ,resuse it and like a month later pour it out some where outside and your good.!
Not a problem out here on the edge of a wild forest. I put it out in a crockery bowl and it's gone in the morning. Plenty of happy little creatures are glad to help.
I have a large coffee can in my fridge that I take out and fill with all my cooking grease, fat and oil. When it's full, I cover it, put it in a plastic bag and throw it in the trash with the rest of my garbage. Then I start over with a fresh can.
Not to worry, I recycle just about everything else...paper, jars, cans, and cardboard--even my batteries! So no scolding, please!
yes I see some answers here say they dump it down the drai< I personally have been doing this for years until my husband read an article about how it is affecting the water mains and other things can't quite remember but now I put it in a tin and let in harrden and then throw it in the bin.
I keep it in a plastic coffee can with lid in the freezer. I also use this for raw chicken scraps. When full throw in garbage can. Clean, neat and sanitary.
what i do simply add some SOAP or any detergent to it wz v HOT WATER and stir to break all the grease and then through ot down the sink
If its just a little grease, like from cooking hamburg I pour it down the kitchen sink drain and let hot water follow it for a minute or two. If it's a lot of grease, like from a deep fryer, I empty it into a sealable jar or can and toss it in the trash.
Save it in an empty jar that has a lid on it.
Never pour it down the sink. After it goes through your plumbing, it coats the sides of the sewer pipes. Eventually the city will have to clean it out and eventually that will cost you extra money on your sewer charges.
When you cook vegetables like beans, string beans and other bland dishes, place a tea spoon or more of that grease in your boiling water and it will taste like down home southern cooking.
When you acquire more than you need, place it in a sealed container and dispose with your trash.
