What are some other dishes I can make with ground beef?!

Question: We are looking to try a little something else rather than our usual dinner menu that we use ground beef with. Usually, we only make burgers, spaghetti, and hotdog chili. In the past, we've occasionally made lasagna, meatloaf, and bean chili but none of those took hold.

We like trying new things but nothing too exotic. We are country cookin' kind of people! :)

If you have any changes for the things I mentioned or any new recipes that we should try, please let me know!

My original version for the Argentinean recipe. Rich and delicious. Any meat can be used for this recipe, just be sure to cut it up into tiny pieces.

INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup shortening
2 onions, chopped
1 pound ground beef
2 teaspoons Hungarian sweet paprika
3/4 teaspoon hot paprika
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
1/4 cup raisins
1/2 cup pitted green olives, chopped
2 hard-cooked eggs, chopped
salt to taste
1 (17.5 ounce) package frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed

DIRECTIONS
In a saute; pan melt the shortening and add the chopped onions. Cook the onions until just before they begin to turn golden. Remove from the heat and stir in the sweet paprika, hot paprika, crushed red pepper flakes and salt to taste.
Spread the meat on a sieve and pour boiling water on it for partial cooking. Allow meat to cool. Place meat in a dish add salt to taste, cumin and vinegar. Mix and add the meat to the onion mixture. Mix well and place on a flat to dish to cool and harden.
Cut puff pastry dough into 10 round shells. Place a spoonful of the meat mixture on each round; add some of the raisins, olives and hard boiled egg. Avoid reaching the edges of the pastry with the filling because its oiliness will prevent good sealing. Slightly wet the edge of the pastry, fold in two and stick edges together. The shape should resemble that of a half-moon. You should have a 2/3 to 1/2 inch flat edge of pastry to work with. Seal by twisting edge, step by step, between thumb and index finger, making sure to add pressure before releasing the pinch and moving on to the next curl. Other sealing procedures like pinching without curling or using a fork to seal will not prevent juice leaks during baking, and empanadas must be juicy.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Place empanadas on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Be sure to prick each empanada with a fork near the curl to allow steam to escape during baking. Glaze with egg for shine and bake until golden, about 20 to 30 minutes

30 Minute Shepherd's Pie
Recipe courtesy Rachael Ray( you either love her or you hate her, but this recipe is awesome)

30 Minute Shepherd's Pie
2 pounds potatoes, such as russet, peeled and cubed
2 tablespoons sour cream or softened cream cheese
1 large egg yolk
1/2 cup cream, for a lighter version substitute vegetable or chicken broth
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, 1 turn of the pan
1 3/4 pounds ground beef or ground lamb
1 carrot, peeled and chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup beef stock or broth
2 teaspoons Worcestershire, eyeball it
1/2 cup frozen peas, a couple of handfuls
1 teaspoon sweet paprika
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves

Boil potatoes in salted water until tender, about 12 minutes. Drain potatoes and pour them into a bowl. Combine sour cream, egg yolk and cream. Add the cream mixture into potatoes and mash until potatoes are almost smooth.

While potatoes boil, preheat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add oil to hot pan with beef or lamb. Season meat with salt and pepper. Brown and crumble meat for 3 or 4 minutes. If you are using lamb and the pan is fatty, spoon away some of the drippings. Add chopped carrot and onion to the meat. Cook veggies with meat 5 minutes, stirring frequently. In a second small skillet over medium heat cook butter and flour together 2 minutes. Whisk in broth and Worcestershire sauce. Thicken gravy 1 minute. Add gravy to meat and vegetables. Stir in peas.

Preheat broiler to high. Fill a small rectangular casserole with meat and vegetable mixture. Spoon potatoes over meat evenly. Top potatoes with paprika and broil 6 to 8 inches from the heat until potatoes are evenly browned. Top casserole dish with chopped parsley and serve.

2 lb hamburger, browned with onions, drained
1 lb or package noodles, boiled & drained
3 cans or jars pizza sauce
2 cup milk
4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 small package of pepperoni

Bake at 350 for 45 min or so

Sheppard's pie

It's basically a layer of cooked ground beef in a casserole dish with whatever veggies you want to add.

Cover it completely with a nice thick layer of mashed/creamed potatoes.
Make sure the edges of the potato are right up against the dish (use a spatula is best or the back of a spoon).
Sprinkle with any cheese you like if you're a cheeselover or you can do breadcrumbs as well.

Bake for about 20 minutes in the oven (usually 350) so that the flavours meld together..

Serve with fresh green salad...
