Lentils taste like other dried legumes--beans--but they are small, flat disks instead of like a kidney bean, so they are very tender. On their own, they are just like beans, but they are best spiced up with seasonings you enjoy. They are a good source of crude protein, lots of fiber, and can be mashed and used for dip, served as a side dish, made into soup, pureed to thicken the soup if desired. Very good for you and very cheap.

They're OK. Not the best food in the world.

Lentils are very good for you. There are different colors and kinds, each with a little bit of a different flavour. They taste a lot like other legumes.

they're good... i really like lentils

This is just me but lentils are gros i hate lentils but don't get me wrong some peple i know like them but i just don't hoped this helped

Like black eyed peas with a little less flavor. Not bad though. But they are very good for you ! It's a good alternative to rice or potatoes, you can put meat and gravy over them like potatoes etc. Also lentil soup is delicious with added beef or chicken.

Lentils are very good. They taste a lot like split peas.

lentils are a source of iron very good for you i take some put in big pot with smoked knuckles pig that is season to the best you know . or just make it like a good pea soup you will love them

I find they have almost a slightly nutty taste. They're okay, I like other legumes better.

I think they taste like tiny lima beans. By themselves, they are kind of bland. But, when you make a stew that includes lots of herbs and spices and cooked using chicken broth with maybe little chunks of ham in a slow cooker? Darn tasty!

Bland. Put a little bacon or sausage grease in your pot and they will really taste good.

Lentils are used a lot in Indian cooking. They are rich in proteins- body building. Good for growing children as they provide proteins for growth but not as much as meat, fish poultry. Lentils are good source of proteins for vegetarians. In India many varieties of lentils are used though commonly lentils mean 'masoor dal'. there are others like, green beans, black beans, red beans.Dal Makhani made with black beans is very popular dish in Punjab in India . Lentils are usually boiled till cooked. Then onion, garlic, ginger, tomatoes etc are stir fried and added along with indian spices. The dish can be served with rice or Indian bread likme roti parantha or naan.

Like beans,,, peas ..???
Usually cooked in soup and stews
So they are overpowered by the broth,, vegies or meat..

Lentils do not have a strong taste. They have an interesting texture and an ability to absorb the tastes of the other ingredients in a dish.

Two lentil dishes I particularly like are mujadara. The Frugal Gourmet has a nice write-up on how to make it:

and this wonderful lentil and olive salad I had recently at a retreat. I can't guarantee this is the exact recipe but it is close:

So the first dish tastes of onion and cumin and the second of olives, lemon and bell peppers.

They are boring to eat, the texture is like most beans or peas and they are bland, I think you need rich and tasty sauces added to them to make them interesting.
