Sugar water blend to desired consistency
Absolutely the best on lemon cake.
4 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
pinch salt
1/2 cup heavy cream
There is a variation of glazes-Most all have a sugar,butter,and a liquid-such as milk or cream.
OR TRY THIS ONE
Melt 1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) of butter in a saucepan or microwave.
Sift 2 cups of powdered sugar into a medium size bowl.
Add the melted butter to the powdered sugar.
Add 2 tablespoons of milk.
This is a very simple icing and it will glaze one 12-cup bundt cake or a 10-inch lemon cake.
INGREDIENTS:
* 1/3 cup stick margarine or butter
* 2 cups powdered sugar
* 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla(i am not sure if this is optional)
* 2-4 tablespoons water
PREPARATION:
Melt margarine in a saucepan. Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla. Add water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and mix until smooth and of desired consistency (a thick syrup). Drizzle over cooled cake. (This will glaze one 12-cup bundt cake or a 10-inch angel food cake.)
7 - minute lemon cake frosting
Ingredients:
2/3 cup butter -- softened
4 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
4 tablespoons lemon juice
Directions:
In a bowl, beat butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating well. Beat in grated lemon peel and enough lemon juice until desired spreading consistency. 1 batch frosts a 2-layer or 13 x 9-inch cake
Before I read the details I automatically thought of just powdered sugar and water. Who needs an intricate recipe? Add as much powdered sugar as you like and add little by little cool water, keeping in mind to whisk frequently. As water until the consistency becomes quite smooth and pliable.
You can always make more if need be.
Good luck.
EDIT:
I just read the extra details. Why not powdered sugar? It's such a simple glaze and without it, there would be no glaze lol. Stick with the powdered sugar, it really does do the trick.
A really simple glaze is a lemon glaze, especially nice since you made a lemon cake:
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 Tbsp lemon juice (or more to taste)
1/4 cup water
Combine all of the ingredients in a saucepan and heat until the sugar is dissolved and the liquids begin to simmer. Remove from the heat, let cool slightly, and brush over the top of your cake. This is also referred to as simple syrup - very versatile. It will be a clear glaze, but will keep your cake moist and add a little extra flavor.
Do you have any lemon juice concentrate? If so, put some granulated sugar in a sauce pan, add a little lemon juice and add water. Bring to a boil and cook until the sugar dissolves. Taste to see if you have the lemon/sugar amounts the way you want - not too sweet - not too sour. Then poke some holes in your cake and pour that over the top. Refrigerate overnight to soak up the liquid. Don't use too much - just enough to put a light coating on the cake.
