Every time I make rice it turns out hard what am I doing wrong?!
Answers: Well the basic rule for rice is 1 cup rice and 2 cups water, but that depends on the type of rice. Jasmine and Basmathi, take a little less water. An alternate way to cook rice is, add more water, 1 cup rice, 3 cups water and when rice is cooked, drain the rice into a colander, put the pan back on the stove with the rice and cover and let it steam. If not get a rice cooker, thats the best and easiest way, cos you don't have to watch over it, turn it on and leave it. Rice cookers are cheap.
Sounds like not enough water.
You are not using enough liquid. Try again with more water or broth.
maybe not enough water
are you at high altitude? go online for special instruction
otherwise, its always:
2:1 water to rice, in a pot, cover, bring to boil, simmer 20 minutes or till water absorbed.
do not take off cover and stir and put it back on or it gets sticky
P.S. brown rice usually is stiffer
Add more water when you have enough it will bubble when you put it on the stove. let bubbles sink when all the waters gone the rice will have little holes in it and it will be a little soggy!
u need more water
probably 1cm over the amount of rice ur usin
not enough water and not allowing it to cook long enough.. also, cook it with a lid on it.. the trapped heat will help cook it quicker.
Make sure you use enough water, and make sure you cook it long enough :)
You could be over-cooking it (cooking it too long).
I let the water boil - add the rice w/butter or oil - turn the burner off .. cover the pan with a lid .. and let it steam for awhile.
It's always good.
you may be not cooking it long enough, keep it cooking until its soft and fluffy. are you talking about it being hard as in stiff here? you may be letting the water absorbed and it can go all stiffy .fill the water above the rice and keep stiring, otherwise it may stick to the saucepan .keep it on a low heat and if you see the water absorbing be sure to add more
