Cream cheese spread?!
Answers: i need a recipe for some sort of cream cheese spread to put on whole wheat tortillas. anyone have any good recipes? [preferably a recipe with no onions or garlic in it].
Here's a recipe for a popular "dip" that I think you could convert to a spread for your tortillas:
1 can chunky chili
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 small container sliced black olives
1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
Normally you would layer this in a baking dish and then nuke it. But, I'm thinking you can blend all of the ingrediants and use them as a spread. If you brown the filled tortillas, quesadilla style, then the cheese will melt. If you're looking for lowfat and organic, try vegetarian chili and non-fat or soy based cream cheese.
mix in taco seasoning and top with black olives, lettuce, tomato, whatever else you want. yum!
Cream cheese and chives is great. The cream cheese will pick up the flavor of the chives.
Get a package of Knorr Vegetable Soup Mix and blend it with the cream cheese.
Get a jar of apricot preserves and blend it with the cream cheese.
The possibilities are endless.
This one is simple but one of my family's favorite--
1 package of cream cheese softened
2 tablespoons of parmesan cheese
1 cup grated pepper jack
1/4 cup of finely chopped parsley
2 tablespoons of milk
*Optional three slices of bacon cooked and crumbled
Directions:
Blend cheeses together using a mixer or food processor
Add milk
Stir in parsley and crumbled bacon bits
This recipe can be molded into a round ball or flat circle to serve with tortillas cut in triangles, crackers or chips
Just shape the cheese mixture, wrap it in plastic wrap or place it in a zip lock bag and let it firm up....Viola! Instant party dish!
