How do you make white glaze for bunt cake? Mine never drys to a solid?!
For a glaze that dries hard, just mix powdered sugar and milk (or water). Use the liquid sparingly if you want it to be thick and dry fast. Use more liquid if you want to drizzle it and have more time to let it set (leave cake exposed to air until glaze has set.)
The beauty of this type of glaze is if you add too much liquid, you can always mix in more powdered sugar to thicken it up, and you can just mix it all together with a spoon. I typically start with about a cup of powdered sugar, and add the milk a splash at a time.

Answers: If you are using butter or any other fat, the glaze will stay soft and sticky.

less liquid and more xxx sugar. You keep playing with it till it works. Do you cook your glaze or just stir and drop? Cooking over medium heat about 5 minutes will help.
Are you adding crisco? If not add with the powder sugar and water until the consistency that you desire.
