A good recipe for an appetizer with "real" ingredients?!

Question: I'm looking for something easy to make for a party this weekend with REAL ingredients you would keep around the home. I've already got some chili and cheese dip and mozzarella cheese marinated in italian dressing.

What are some of your favorites that you make for a party?

Thanks for the help!

Taco Boats are fun to make and scrumptious to eat.

Buy some Wonton Wraps at the store, usually in the produce section hanging. Pre-bake these in a muffin tin to form a little bowl. Transfer them to a large baking sheet after you have pre-baked them.

In a frying pan brown two pounds of ground meat or sausage with 1 large sweet onion chopped. Drain. Add two packages of Ranch Dressing Mix and blend well. Spoon this into the bowls and top with your favorite grated cheddar cheese. Place back in the oven to melt the cheese.

Makes about 48, 60 wraps to a package.

Top with salsa, sour cream, shredded lettuce, chopped green onions or whatever you think you might like. They are good by themselves.

take the mozzarella and slice it with a bit of basil and put it on a cracker, or better yet, melt it onto a piece of crusty bread with a bit of tapenade ontop....

This is always a hit

Seven Layer Tex Mex Dip

1 (16 ounce) can refried beans
1 cup guacamole
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
1 (1 ounce) package taco seasoning mix
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 tomato, chopped
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1/4 cup black olives, drained

In a large serving dish, spread the refried beans. Layer the guacamole on top of the beans.
In a medium bowl, mix the mayonnaise, sour cream and taco seasoning mix. Spread over the layer of guacamole. Sprinkle a layer of Cheddar cheese over the mayonnaise mixture layer. Sprinkle tomato, green onions and black olives over the cheese.

i love this artichoke dip..sooo good!

2 (14 ounce) cans artichoke hearts, drained
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon dried parsley

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Drain the artichokes, squeeze the juice out of them, pull them apart and place in a 1-quart casserole dish.
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine Mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese and mayonnaise. Pour this mixture into the casserole and mix well until the artichoke hearts are mixed in well. Sprinkle the parsley over the top.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 40 minutes, or until the dip is brown on top.

take dates that have the pit removed. wrap it in smoked bacon. stick a cocktail pricker in it. easy, simple and delicious.

Here's one I make a lot:

Take a block of cream cheese, and bring it to room temperature. Spread it around evenly on a large, flat platter until it's about 1/3 inch thick.

On top of the cream cheese, you have some options:

1. Spread a thin layer of salsa, then add a handful of finely shredded cheese. Serve with corn chips.

2. Spread a thin layer of BBQ sauce, a handful of bacon bits, then add a handful of finely shredded cheese. Serve with Wheat Thins or other crackers.

3. Spread a thin layer of apricot preserves, for a sweeter dip. Serve with Wheat Thins or other crackers.

I've made all three of these, and they all go over really well.

Good luck!

get crackers. buy soft mozerella cheese in the liquid. Cut it into small pieces and lay on half the crackers. on the other half, spread tapenade. you could also get basil, olive oil, and some olives and grind in food processor. take some tomatoes and dice into small pieces and save some basil. toast the crackers with the cheese in an oven or toaster oven until the the cheese is melted but still holds shape. place some tomatoe dices on and a piece of basil and VOILA! you got some apatizers.

Slices of tomatoes , 1 slice of mozzarella cheese on top, oregano, bake it till melt.

Marinated cheese!

I didn't even know you could marinate cheese but its awesome! Here's the recipe:

I recommend using sharp cheddar.

Get a package of all beef mini hot dogs and a jar of your favorite Barbeque sauce. Put the hotdogs into a 2 qt with lid and empty the Sauce over them. Also, fill the bottle half way with water and shake it to rinse it out. Dump that on top too and turn the heat on medium, then cover it. Bring to a boil and the turn it down to very low and uncover for an hour or so, until the sauce thickens and the hotdogs absorb the flavors of the sauce.
Serve in a crock pot on low and leave napkins and toothpicks close by. Also nearby, place a waste basket for trash. Enjoy! Rob R

This one is always a big hit. I serve the artichokes chilled and cut in half.
