I think its better to use the stock because it will give the foods more flavor and that's always a good thing :) I've made this dish with water before and it's always a little bland, the stock gives it a nice taste thats very subtle and very good. You should try doing half and half sometime and doing a taste test, then you'll know exactly what you like :)

i would say chicken stock cuz it gives the food more flavoring

chicken stock ..it has tons more flavor..Just use a bit less salt because the stock has salt already in it.

water is cheaper but the stock adds more flavor. Use vegetable stock as a compromise.

Not sure where you are planning to use it ... do you mean in one casserole? Use stock because it has more flavor.

chicken stock will most definitely give you more flavor in everything

You will get more flavor with chicken stock and for some reason I'm thinking the meat will be more tender. However if you use water, you'll be cutting back on sodium which is good as well :)

I don't know if you are cooking all this together in one pot, a casserole, etc. However, I used to make a pot of the green beans, seasoned with the ham, and add some new potatoes (small red potatoes). I never added chicken stock..only enough water to simmer it all down. I like the taste of the beans and potatoes without adding extra flavoring other than pepper and salt.

Chicken stock so you can have that little bit of flavor.

Chicken stock. Your meal will be tastier.

I would not use chicken stock or water. I would use veggie stock is has more flavor in it.

A very light chicken or vegetable stock gives you a tastier dish and unites those flavors. You can also use it to substitute some of that flavor you get from the fat in the ham.

When you cook something that has fat in it with water it tends to dry out and the flavor from the meat goes into the air. You'll have the tastiest kitchen walls on the planet.

I agree, use chicken stock for added flavor. There have been a lot of posts concerned about sodium. You can by chicken stock with reduced sodium to help in that area.

Chicken stock.

Use half chicken stock, half water.

I've done it both ways. Water is kinda bland and chicken stock gets way overpowering.

Good luck :)
