What is better when making pasta with shrimp?!
Answers: hey there, so i am making some pasta with shrimp, it will be tomato sauce with shrimp and vegetables on the side, anyways, i have never used shrimp in like a pasta recipe before, should I saute them? or boil them? or does it not really matter/ thanks!
I would saute them with butter and garlic and then toss them right into the pasta before serving. Does it matter? Not really. Just make sure you do not over cook it!
Saute them in olive oil with garlic, salt & pepper
I would get pre-cooked shrimp thaw them out. Then take off the tails and put them in the pasta once everything is cooked.
It would taste better with cream sauce and parsley.
Hope this helps.
Use this recipe, and ditch the tomatoes, unless freshly diced ones. Otherwise, it will give you a pretty good idea of how to combine the two.
Linguine with Shrimp Scampi
Vegetable oil
Kosher salt
3/4 pound linguine
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 1/2 tablespoons good olive oil
1 1/2 tablespoons minced garlic (4 cloves)
1 pound large shrimp (about 16 shrimp), peeled and deveined
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/3 cup chopped fresh parsley leaves
1/2 lemon, zest grated
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (2 lemons)
1/4 lemon, thinly sliced in half-rounds
1/8 teaspoon hot red pepper flakes
Drizzle some oil in a large pot of boiling salted water, add 1 tablespoon of salt and the linguine, and cook for 7 to 10 minutes, or according to the directions on the package.
Meanwhile, in another large (12-inch), heavy-bottomed pan, melt the butter and olive oil over medium-low heat. Add the garlic. Saute for 1 minute. Be careful, the garlic burns easily! Add the shrimp, 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt, and the pepper and saute until the shrimp have just turned pink, about 5 minutes, stirring often. Remove from the heat, add the parsley, lemon zest, lemon juice, lemon slices, and red pepper flakes. Toss to combine.
When the pasta is done, drain the cooked linguine and then put it back in the pot. Immediately add the shrimp and sauce, toss well, and serve.

If you aren't mixing the shrimp and veggies in with the sauce, you should sautee the shrimp with butter, a few seasonings, and the vegetables. That way, they will all have a similar flavor and taste yummy! Sauteed shrimp taste so much better than boiled shrimp, and it will make the veggies taste great too!
Shrimp only take about 5 minutes to cook at the most. I wouldn't precook them at all - either use already cooked and toss them in at the end just to heat them or put the raw shrimp into the sauce and allow them to simmer in there for about 5 minutes. They will turn pink when they are done. If you overcook them, they are rubbery.
Hope that helps.
Yummmm!! Saute them in some olive oil, fresh garlic and basil...
saute
If you are cooking the shrimp/ prawns then I would just throw them in the tomatoe sauce a few minutes before serving. They need almost no time to cook and are ready when they change colour. You could also add some small fish pieces, calamari and some mussels into the tomatoe sauce all uncooked. The ones that take the longest obviously going in first. This is a tomato based marina and is delicious.
Alternatively add a good dollup of olive oil (enough to coat the pasta) into the pan together with some chopped chilli, and garlic cook the prawns in that then add the cooked pasta some parsley and toss. Then finish off with a squeeze of lemon juice. SOme white wine can also be added with the prawns but its not necessary.
totally saute em with spices. giv them alil spiciness.broiling would remind me of a stir fry for some odd reason.
