How many tomatoes make 1/4 lb?!

Question: I'm using a recipe for tomato soup, and they ask to use 1/4 lb tomatoes but I'm not really sure how much that is...I only have the regular-sized big tomatoes (i think they're called heirloom?), i've run out of the romas:(
So if anyone knows how many tomatoes I should use, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!

well, a lb is 16 oz and 1/2 lb is 8 oz so 1/4# of tomatoes is not much-4 ounces. or, 1/2 cup...
hope thats helpful

You wont get much tomato soup with 1/4 lb of tomatoes.
It will turn out like coloured water.

a nice beefsteak could weigh a pound or more by itself. btw, 1/4 lb is not much tomato for a tomato soup recipe.
