I like to clean my potato then rub it with oil and sprinkle some special salt on it and bake it on the shelf in the over for about an hour-then real butter and sour cream and chives.

How to make the perfect and yummy baked potato!
Give it a good wash and while it is still damp, sprinkle it with a little crushed sea salt.
Prick the skin here and there with a fork and bake on the bars of a pre-heated oven at 200°C (Gas mark 6) for 60-75 minutes, depending on the size of the potato.
You will know that the potato is done when it gives to a little pressure from thumb and forefinger. It will also be whistling quietly, like a kettle of boiling water, and its skin will crackle as you lift it from the oven.
Remove immediately and hit it with the side of your hand wrapped in a towel, hard enough to barely split the skin, but not so hard as to need to re-decorate the kitchen!
Steam will rise from the potato with a rush, leaving inside a mass of light, powdery, moist fluff. Immediately add real dairy butter, and a topping of your choice(such as sour cream, margarine, chopped scallions, salt etc)

First you boil them, then you stick them in the oven, this will give them the fluffy texture, that really, no condiments are needed:)

I agree with you, I gently rub a wee bit of oil on them, use some sea salt and bake in the oven, no foil since that steam them, I like a crispy skin. Add butter and sour cream and it is near to heaven :)
Potatoes tend to get a bad rap. But when I'm trying to drop a few pounds a salad and baked potato help and they are filling enough that I don't feel a need to snack.

Actually, I buy the ready-to-microwave kind. They are actually really good plus it saves so much time. I top them with loads of butter and seasoned salt. Yummmmm!
I scrub the potatoes first, poke holes in one side, rub it in bacon grease which has salt in it, then stick them in the oven right on the rack. You end up with a nice crispy skin. Enjoy!! :~)
After you clean off the dirt, wrap them in tinfoil and bake in oven. When stuck with sharp knife easily, it's done. Top with cheddar cheese and broccoli or bits of crushed fried bacon, sour cream and butter. Yum!

i'm going to have to try the oil&salt on the skin trick. anyways, when they're done, butter, s&p, sure. try topping them w/ chili&shredded cheese.
I like to wrap my potato in foil and bake it for an hour. When it is down I take it out of the foil cut a cross on the top and squeeze it to open it up. I love to add butter, chives, sour cream, diced ham, cheese, salt and pepper. Love, honey

Microwave 4 minutes, turn and another 4 min and turn 4 min. and turn 4min...I actually make it have 4 sides with each turn. The peal loosens a lil(I eat it)and then open it add my butter, bacon bits, chives and cheese...lots and lots of cheese!

i put oil on the skin before i bake it to make the skin crispy,then when the inside is tender i scoop out the middle,put it in a bowl add salt pepper,sourcream chedder cheese and a little crumbled bacon then i mash it.but not mushy,keep it chunky,then i put it back in yhe skin and bake it for 15 more minutes.Mmmmm!its so good.i know it sounds like alot of work but it is not.
