Answers: I'm making chocolate covered strawberries and I don't have a double boiler.

you can make a double broiler with two pans or a glass or metal bowl over a pan of water. The trick is to keep it at a slow low boil, any water gets in the chocolate and it was seize. If you microwave start my breaking the chocolate into small even pieces and only go 30 seconds at a time and stir very well or you'll burn it. If you are using a chocolate candy bar try adding just a little vegetable oil.

Do about 45 seconds. Take it out if it starts to bubble.

Start out slowly - like 40 seconds. Repeat until chocolate is lightly melted.

Enjoy! Sounds yummy.

it depends on how much chocolate you're melting, besides, if you melt the chocolate in the microwave it wont have the best flavor and texture. What i can recomend is to use a pot with boiling water, then put the chocolate in a smaller pot, and place it in the boiling water, this is how its made in Mexico and Italy, its fast, easy and you will have a nice texture and 100% flavor, the only thigs you have to worry is the size of the pot were you're putting the chocolate, try to use a small one.

You really don't want to melt chocolate in the oven.

Now- I don't have a double-boiler either. But I do take a small pan with a big lip on it, and a slightly larger pan without a lip, and use that to make a sort of double-boiler: I would fill the large pan with water, then put the small pan in in such a way that the lip is firmly supported by the larger pan. It works very well.

Good luck!

You can get double boiler inserts for your saucepans cheap at the thrift stores and flea markets sometimes.

In a glass bowl, do in 5 second bursts.
