I am cooking talapia and shrimp for dinner Friday night......?!

Question: I am good with the fish (garlic, lemon, white wine, touch of pepper) but I don't care how you marinate shrimp - it never seems to take on any flavor! Novel ideas, please? It is still too cold to grill it outside. Thanks in advance!

simple sea salt balsamic vinnigar mixure with a little bit of ground cinnamon and cracked pepper make a healthy and tasty marrinade that can actually be reduced while cooking the shrimp and create a sauce that is great over broken rice side of shrimp

Here are a couple of marinades I like ::: these recipes are for 1 pound of shrimp, you may need to adjust accordingly...

1/4 c. olive oil
1/4 c. dry white wine
1 tbsp. minced dry onion
1/2 tsp. dried basil (1 tsp. if fresh)
1/2 tsp. dried rosemary
1/4 tsp. pepper

OR

1 c. dry white wine
1 c. extra virgin olive oil
4 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
1/4 c. Dijon style mustard
3/4 c. chopped fresh basil leaves

OR

2 cloves garlic (or 1/2 tsp. garlic powder)
1/4 c. soy sauce
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. oil
1/2 c. lemon juice
3 tbsp. chopped parsley (fresh or dried) f
3 tbsp. chopped onion
1/2 tsp. pepper

OR

2 tbsp. olive oil
Juice of 1 sm. lemon (2 tbsp.)
2 tbsp. finely chopped fresh parsley
1 tbsp. ground fresh ginger root
1 tbsp. Dijon mustard
2 tsp. ground coriander seeds
1 tsp. coarse salt
1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. chopped thyme or 1/2 tsp. dried thyme

OR

1/4 cup peanut oil
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/8 cup sesame oil
juice of one lemon
1 tsp. ground garlic
1 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. white pepper
salt, to taste

OR

3/4 cup fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 shallots, finely chopped
2 tablespoons finely chopped cilantro
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste
2 1/2 tablespoons lemon or lime marmalade
1/3 cup olive oil

For all of these, I would mix ingredients and pour over shrimp in a large ziplock bag or tupperware container. I usually leave it in the fridge for at least 3-4 hours before cooking...

To cook, saute in a few tablespoons of olive oil until the shrimp are opaque.

Hope that helps! Good luck! =]

try adding the spicing after you cook (not overcook. about 45 seconds on each side in a medium heat pan.) the shrimp.

Easy........camarones de ajo (garlic shrimp). It's just butter, garlic, pepper & dried/fresh parsley (optional)

I have never had any luck with marinating shrimp either. The acid in most marinades will toughen the shrimp. I'd say go with a dry rub, saute quickly in a little butter and olive oil mixed.
