What is the difference between oil and butter? Can I use oil instant of butter when I cook.?!

It would depend on what you were making. You couldn't use oil to make pastry, crumble or cakes etc unless the recipe asked for it. Most baking requires butter,marg,lard or shortening.

I think in America they use cake mixes and u add oil to these. But to make a traditional Victoria sandwich or basic cake mix only butter/margarine would do

Yes you can, unless you are making cookies.

Yes you can use oil instead of butter when you cook. The food doesn't burn as easily when you use oil. Just keep an eye on it. I recommend margarine and not oil though.

Well, it would certainly depend on what you mean by "cooking".
There are many times when oil should NOT replace butter and many times when it can.
It would also depend on whether or not you preferred/needed the taste of butter with the food being "cooked" as opposed to oil.

Yes, you can. In cooking. Saute Onion, bacon and others.
But in baking, butter work well ,because it bring flavour.

you can use oil for fry ups, virgin olive oil for fine dishes. Butter i guess is if you want more of a buttery then oilly taste.

Don't go too far away from the recipe. That's been tested for the best result.

You can but the recipe wont be the same. And you cant do it with all recipes.
