Nope it doesn't have pig on it and never has. Caramel color is based on the cooking of sugar to a high temperature for carmelization to produce an attractive caramel toffee brown color. The heat is carefully controlled during carmelization to get the right product from the reaction. Caramel Colors are not solvent extracted, do not contain any preservatives, do not contain any artificial flavors, do not contain any artificial colors and contain no genetically modified proteins or DNA, and certainly no pigs! Please enjoy eating your making my mouth water with your question. Drool!

I dont think so. Im pretty sure it is just sugar.

Okay I looked it up. I had to know this. I didn't want pig essence in my candy either. Anyways:

Caramel, the French term for burnt sugar, is used not only as a flavoring but as a coloring in savory dishes as well as desserts. In its most basic form, caramel is made from melting sugar until it is liquified. At this point, it takes on varying degrees of color and obtains its distinctive taste. If cooked too long, it darkens and turns bitter. In the production of candies, other ingredients such as cream are added to melting sugar for a softer result.

Urrghh that creme added to make it softer worries me. But you should be safe eating the hard caramel that is on the caramel apple.

no, it's considered as sugar melted in a certain way

wow NO

no absolutely not, the easiest and most common way to make caramel is with sweetened condensed milk - you cook the milk for a certain period and it turns into caramel, in otherwords, concentrated milk and sugar and heat makes caramel.

eat to your hearts content

enjoy

just sugar and water

I wouldn't take any chances!!!

What?? No! If you're so worried about what's in your food, cook it yourself. Otherwise, shup.
