Not sure what you mean by grandma soup recipe - whether you mean an old-time recipe or a recipe that serves a small quantity just for grandma.

If you mean an old-time recipe, here's one for Navy Bean Soup:

NAVY BEAN SOUP

1 pkg dried Navy beans
1 ham bone
3 slices of salt pork or bacon - diced
1/2 breakfast ham - diced
1 bay leaf
1 carrot
1 stalk celery
1/2 medium onion

Rinse off the beans, place in a pot, cover with water, bring to the boil, boil 1 minute then cover and turn off the heat. Let the beans sit in the water for 1 hour.

Drain the water off the beans. Dice the carrot, celery and onion and put in the pot. Add the bay leaf, black pepper, salt pork or bacon, ham bone, and water to cover. Bring to a boil, turn down the heat and simmer for 2 - 3 hours depending on how soft you like your beans. Just before serving, dice up the breakfast ham and stir it in and heat until all is hot. Serve.

My mother loves this recipe and cooks her beans until they are pretty soft. I like mine a little firmer so I cook mine between 2 and 3 hours. She cooks hers between 3 and 3 1/2 hours.

If you are after a recipe that only makes a small portion, then take the above ingredients but use the following amounts:

NAVY BEAN SOUP

1 small coffee cup (not mug) Navy beans
1/4 onion diced
1/2 carrot diced
1/2 stalk celery diced
1 ham bone (I always cut mine into 2 or 3 pieces and use just one piece in the small portion)
1 slice salt pork or 1 slice bacon - diced
1 bay leaf
1/4 or less of the breakfast ham

Follow the directions above because they are the same. It just takes a little less time to cook but will average out to about 2 hours. This smaller recipe makes 3 bowls of soup.

Hope this is what you want.

If your grandma has trouble with beans, then a nice Chicken Noodle Soup or Vegetable Beef might be better. I'm a grandma and a great-grandma so most can eat just about anything they want.

GAZPACHO ANDALUZ

1 clove garlic
1 med. onion
6 fresh tomatoes, peeled
1 green pepper, seeded
1 cucumber, peeled & seeded
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
2 tbsp. wine vinegar
2 tbsp. olive oil
Dash of hot pepper sauce or pinch of cayenne

Put all ingredients in a blender and give it a whirl until all is liquified. Chill for several hours and serve with additional of any or all of the vegetables chopped and/or croutons for garnish.
Hint: This gazpacho works best when the tomatoes are at the peak of the season but if you have a craving for this wonderful cold soup earlier in the year, use 3 fresh tomatoes and a 15 ounce can of stewed tomatoes.
