How to safely freeze meals?!
Answers: Do you need to cool the cooked food to room temperature before putting in freezer? I think I heard somewhere that if you put hot food straight in the freezer it can cause food poisoning... is this true?
check out a group here on yahoo called frozen assets. They do once a week/month cooking, and have a million and one freezing tips, including which foods freeze well, and which you should not freeze. You do need to quick cool foods before freezing to prevent the growth of bacteria that will run amok once you defrost the items! I would cool them in the fridge, then freeze. If you put hot foods directly into the freezer, you risk the surrounding foods temperatures being lowered, also risking bacterial growth in those foods!
Let it cool down to room temp at least. Seal it properly. Label your foods especially meats with the date cooked and everything.
It will grow less bacteria if you put it straight in the freezer. The smaller the portion, the sooner it will freeze, the better. I'll put the food in one or two servings in freezer bags, and lay them flat.
cool it as quickly as you can then freeze if you put it in warm it can affect other things you have in freezer by warming them. when you take it out put in microwave for about 4 mins it depends on size but it must all be hot hot hot right to middle then let it cool to eating temperature to kill any germs
Cool it in the fridge to fridge temperature, then place in freezer.
